Haven't heard anything for a period of time now, how is the restoration going?

Not quite sure why I put XL600, I meant the Gannet at St Athan! :wall:

Apologies guys, didn't mean for it to cause confusion!

They still ain't got the Gannet blog up & running on it yet , though.
If you really want to you could always ask them for an update : http://www.horizonaircraft.co.uk/contact/

XT752 has posted this on Social Media:
More Special Announcements for you All !!

Many of you already know that Janet is the last actual prototype of all the Cold War aircraft still flying today, she as a Gannet is the oldest, longest serving in the military, the last to retire, the last to land on an aircraft carrier and the last of her type flying in the world. She was used for weapons evaluation at Boscombe Down, Launched at Farnborough, the only Gannet to be privately registered to Fairey !!!!!
We know too well there is a sad gap in the historic representation of the Gannet in the UK and Europe, and we are happy to announce that we have accepted an invite to help Fairey Gannet XL500 back to airworthy condition by its team, so in 2017 if we can Aquire the funding by then you will all see, the oldest Gannet in the world XT752 an ASW version, beside an AEW version XL500 a sight that we may never see again.
We know how historic Janet is and that she led the way for many Gannets later in Faireys history such as her fledgling Mk3 cousin XL500, so its our teams intention at the Wings of Steel Foundation to help, so when Janet ends her intended tour of the UK, it wont be sad and tears for everyone as she will be leaving her cousin to continue the great Gannet representation in Europe, until a day we may be able to come back and visit again.
We hope you all will be able to savour a special historic moment in 2017

Our UK 2017 Tour "Go Fund Me" page for Janet will be up shortly later today so hopfully you can all be on board to help this happen :)

Bit of a zombie thread resurrection......

For months, HAS' website have had the blog about XL500 showing as 'updated soon'.
Checking the website today, however, and all mention of the Gannet has disappeared other than the long out-of-date blog articles from 2013......what has now appeared, however is mention of them having aquired a Hawk ( ZK534 )

Unfortunately, it's a bit far to travel from sunny South Wales, even if I wasn't working.

Only question would be what's the score with the Gannet.....is the RtoF still ongoing, have they put it on hold, or have they binned it ?

Knew they'd got the props off after finally acquiring the correct tool, didn't know they'd sent them to the States.
Haven't checked recently, but I'm pretty sure there was a PtoF application lodged late last year.
Makes you wonder why they've pulled it off their website.

How close are we talking? Airworthy this year? Next year? 5 years time? I'd love to see a Gannet fly.

Just checked the CAA website : https://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?catid=1&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=detailnosummary&fullregmark=KAEW

Application Type : CAA PERMIT ISSUE

Received Date : 30/11/2016

Expected Date of Processing : 20/12/2016

( No mention as to whether the Permit has been granted yet, but presumably not )

I really wouldn't want to put a time frame on when the finished aircraft will be ready lots happening with it will look very different when it resurfaces.

I just asked Horizon Aircraft Services and they said they are just waiting for the props to be overhauled and brought back to life, before they can fly it for the first time.
Also, the Hawk that arrived in their hanger is a return to flight project and will be the first civilian one on the civillian register. They hope to have it airworthy within 6 months

G-HAWK? Registered June 1976, deregistered March 1990, so not the first civil one

Presume they meant the only one that will be registered on the civil register.
