RAF Tucano 2009 - Cancelled

RAF Tucano 2009 - Cancelled

Postby Light Blue Spy on Thu 19 Mar 2009, 2:55 pm

Regret to announce that the 2009 RAF Tucano display season has been cancelled.

Not a decision taken lightly. All possibilities have been explored but none are viable. Looking forward to seeing Mike back as the 2010 RAF Tucano display pilot.

Can we get a Typhoon painted up using the same scheme to fill in for the Tucano?

Get well soon Mike!

I'm sure everyone will understand this decision completely, unavoidable in the circumstances.

Do pass on best wishes to Mike...........

Thanks for the update Andy. At the end of the day, an airshow is just an airshow, and a broken airframe is just a broken airframe.

The good thing is that Mike is still around to show us the display next year. I echo the sentiments already expressed and pass my best wishes for a speedy recovery and return to duties.

If i remember hearing right back along, you can't just paint a typhoon any colour due to what its made of! (but i could be, and most probally am wrong?)

And sad news but hope Mike's back flying really soon!

I would like to also pass my best wishes on to Mike, He has joined a elite club of pilots with more take offs than landings now and lived to tell the tale.
Its understandable to cancel the Tucano display for this year albeit a pity as it makes a lovely display Aircraft, It would be nice if some shows could have a static example instead.

It is a great shame to lose the Tucano display this year, but the main thing is that Mike is ok and will hopefully display for us in 2010

Any chance of seeing the specially painted Tuccano on static displays at airshows please?

I hope Mike gets better very quickly Andy.
The Tuc display is often overlooked as it's a small airframe, but the last pass that was made over the hill at Dawlish 08 was absolutley superb!!

Good that the correct decision had been made by Air Officer Commanding 22 group for the 2009 season. Lets hope the new "Sharcano" static display team will be at some shows during the summertime  . Also good to hear Mike's getting better at the bar !.

Did I imagine it, or did someone post a photograph of the 2009 display scheme Tucano? I don't seem to be able to find it!

Is it this one? viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7566 can't actually see any pictures here at work as they are blocked, but the title is a bit of a give away I think
