Thank you for your comments; the Hastings cleaning work is taking place while the Shackleton repainting team wait for the temperature to stabilise at an acceptable level so they can complete the work on WR977. The plan is for that to be completed in time for the Shackleton & Hastings 40th Anniversary event on 20th & 21st May, 2017.

Work is also gearing up to finish the repaint of the Buccaneer and then to start on the Sea Vixen and Vulcan.

We have lots happening with regard to site development and we’re in a temporary hold while we await some final decisions from the Planning Department.

The memorial garden gives particular pride to the museum’s groundsman and more details about the various commemorations that it houses can be found in here.

flashman8 I’m sure they’ll be on the stock list in the Museum Shop quite soon!

This year the museum is once again participating in the BBC Big Day Out campaign, which provides free admission to a host of tourist attractions in Nottinghamshire Further information in this BBC PDF file N.B. you’ll need the print-out if you want to gain the free admission offer with us.

On Sunday we will have several aircraft / cockpits open – small donation is requested to access each one; all proceeds going towards the new Café & Toilet facility; – open cockpit details in here!

we and our friends enjoyed our visit on Sunday, and look forward to coming back again soon.

Jumped into volunteer/guide mode when it the nose of the Shackleton when a young boy pointed to the gunners seat in the nose and said `whats that`.

a sign of things to come perhaps?

Thank you for the feedback and it was good to have a brief chat at the museum on Sunday - I hope it wasn't too boring listening about the challenges that the museum is currently facing.

Fingers crossed about the volunteering / museum membership http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/museum-membership
