Couteau Delta to take to the skies

Post by Wissam24 »

Have just seen confirmed by a well-trusted source on Facebook that there will be an M2000D pairs display this year, called Couteau Delta.

Well, that's a glimmer of light on a dark horizon? Bring 'em on. One standard scheme & one French-paint special will do nicely!

I don't think the horizon is that dark just yet, but very welcome news none the less.

Always the plan to replace the Ramex Delta with something else I wonder? Something that may well be rather similar too!

This, plus the return of the Alpha Jet display, is all good news coming from the French. :-)

Most excellent news if true - the more fast jet pairs displays on the European circuit the better.

Indeed, almost brings a teardrop to my eye, with this good news, but that will be the part of the display with a massive attack sequence I guess.

Tremendous news if true. Ramex Delta were one of my favourite display acts, so if they can emulate them, brilliant. :snack:

Hello,

If you speak about this, sorry but it's a virtual reality team.

Raffin Mike, the 2-seat & a single seat French Jaguar duo. What an incredible demonstration of ultra-close flying?

Though I saw plenty of Jaguar A pairs I don't recall them ever being named, only the "E" pair, which became very common by comparison, were called Raffin Mike AFAIK. But yes, fabulous flying, all the more as the Jag, and at that 2 seat jags were pretty pig-ish in the air compared to the super sexy F1s and IIIs/Vs... There's some great videos of them from the cockpit and the amount of reheat just to keep in formation is quite something.

From Ramex Delta FB

Nous décollons vers des cieux nouveaux, mais l'aventure Delta continue, plus au nord cette fois! Une patrouille de Mirage 2000D reprend le flambeau: les Couteau DELTA !! Let them make the show !!!!

My 'école-garçon français' is no match for this, so I googled thus....

We take off to new heavens, but the Delta adventure continues, further north this time! A Mirage 2000D patrol takes over the torch: the DELTA Knife !!
And as the smart ship grew,
In stature, grace and hue,
In shadowy silent distance grew the iceberg too....

Quite good translation.
I would refine :

We take off to new skies, but the Delta adventure goes on, further north this time! A Mirage 2000D patrol takes up the flag: the DELTA Knife !!

The Desert bird. Painted as a nod to the Chad based Jags on the 30th anniversary of the Ouadi Doum mission

Think the brown is a bit too brown. It's a dessert scheme, not a desert scheme.

However, I would certainly love to see it!

As mentioned in Geoff's post it represents the Chad camo scheme painted on the Jags in the 1980s.

http://www.dstorm.eu/pictures/nose-arts/jaguar/france/tarmac.jpg Compare the near and far aircraft in this line compared to the more conventional desert scheme applied for Red Flag exercises and later used in the first Gulf War.

It is a little bit chocolate sauce, but it still looks pretty good.
