That will be confirmed very soon as we are just finalising our application for charitable status.

Treasurer:
The role of the treasurer is to monitor UKHAT’s financial administration and report this back to the trustees at regular intervals, in line with our governing document. TBC will also be involved in budgeting, strategic financial planning and investments.

Marketing:
Jem Shaw’s role is helping to spread the word about UKHAT to the general public through nationwide media and at events throughout the country. Jem was the former Marketing Director at Classic Air Force and has a wealth of over 30 years marketing experience to bring to the UKHAT team.

Matthew Lear's role is to communicate with the general public and respond to website enquiries. (All website enquiries from the web contact form come to me - my email is enquiries@ukhat.org for those that prefer to use that)

Maintenance:
UKHAT will use Atlantic Flight Maintenance (AFM) for all of our maintenance and servicing needs. Based at Coventry Airport, AFM were responsible for looking after all of the aircraft belonging to Classic Air Force (a charitable organisation that closed down at the end of the 2015 airshow season) and have a wealth of knowledge in operating vintage aircraft in the United Kingdom.

We also have a small Ground Support Team that we will primarily be seen from 2018 onwards.

A flick through Duncan Halford's Twitter timeline would make me question his suitability.

From what I can see one of the businesses he runs is selling a few eggs at car boot sales. Not exactly the kind of business experience you'd be trusting with donations that could run into the hundreds of thousands.

Perhaps he goes by other names, but I couldn't find a "Duncan Halford" listed at Companies House. Which is strange for someone who has built a couple of businesses and therefore "has the right knowledge to be our chairman and take us forward into the future.".

And Matthew, how do you plan to fit in all the communications stuff for the "trust" (and I put that in quotes, because you aren't a trust) around your school work? Isn't it GCSEs for you this year?

The more I look at the people behind UKHAT, the more I worry. The last thing the historic aviation scene in the UK needs is another well-intentioned-but-badly-run scheme to take money off the public.

Not wishing to be seen to be standing up for anyone, but no need to be listed at Companies House if you're a sole trader!

Looks like they may be involved with proposal for rescuing Herald G-CEXP at Gatwick. There's a page dedicated to it on Facebook

True enough. But looking at a few of Mr Halford's recent tweets, his sole trading doesn't seem to be going so well.

I'm sure he's a lovely chap, but time will tell whether he's got the experience to head up a multi-million pound venture to return classic aircraft to our skies in a safe fashion.

From this group:

UKHAT Chairman (Duncan):
Morning all, I'll put a list of jobs/roles we need to consider and jobs we need to get to grips with later today. Have we had any luck with museums? Unfortunately looking at her condition it doesn't look like she can be towed from her current location to another one on the airport unless we do some work first. We need to find out a time scale from the airport on how long we have.

UKHAT Communication Guru (Matt):
I wonder how much one of these hangars would cost - http://www.rubbuk.com/brochures/aviation.pdf If we could buy some land on an airfield and build our own, that would be good

UKHAT Chairman (Duncan):
A hell of a lot of money. Close to a million pounds I'd say

UKHAT Communication Guru (Matt):
Then again, you could look at the sort of principle VTTS are going to do-a builder builds the hangar and then you lease it back off them and pay it off over time

Either this is UKHAT attempting to rescue a static airframe and telling no one (despite public discussions) or the Chairman etc have their fingers in many pies, however I must say to hold conversations like that on an open public page demonstrating a distinct lack of understanding of the operation involved has killed this off to me. Absolute amateurs :tumbleweed: .

You guys seem to think we are all amateurs. You are all entitled to your own opinion and we respect that. Lets put it all in perspective - I wonder what your reactions were when VTTS revealed they were going to return XH558 to the skies. It happened and she graced our skies for several more years - years that would not have happened with hope and determination. We did not begin forming UKHAT thinking it would be an easy ride You have to take setbacks on the chin and keep going at it. Our Chairman's political opinions have no relevance to the fact that we love historic aircraft. After all, why would we have enbarked on UKHAT otherwise? There are only a handful of groups that aim to protect and preserve them. We want to be part of that before all vintage aeroplanes are gone forever.
The Herald mentioned previously is totally seperate of UKHAT and we are just helping the group with their aims by sharing our contacts and offering to volunteer.
Finally, I would just like to point out those that have offered us advice over the past few months in order to show that we are in contact with some of the best people in the business!

A quick check shows that BAPC has a membership of over 100 groups/museums in the UK; at a guess looking after well over a thousand airframes!

I am more thinking of groups that preserve airworthy aircraft, especially vintage jets. I can only think of a couple of Jet Provost groups and one Vampire group that fly regularly in the UK

What would you consider a "group" that "preserves" and "airworthy aircraft"?

Austers, Chipmunks, Spitfires, Hurricanes, a Desford Trainer ( :ninja: ), one of god knows how many other types of old aircraft that aren't military?

By the sounds of it, all you want to see is a Cold War era jet powered aircraft flying, based on absolutely no professional experience in the field.

Be that as it may, but VTTS was led by a man with a first class honours from Oxford and many years experience as a director within a high-profile IT and networking company, rather than a self-employed gardener "qualified in Horticulture and Economics" who claims to have "the right knowledge to be... chairman and take us forward into the future". I'm dubious at best, and until realistic steps are being taken to lay out clear plans and gain charitable status I'm afraid I and many others will only see this as a pipe dream :cuppa:

But you are amateurs.

Your chairman is a self-employed gardener who keeps a few chickens.

Your communications guru is a schoolboy.

You're a project manager.

None of you have a professional aviation background, you are all enthusiastic amateurs. And there's nothing wrong with that - enthusiastic amateurs have achieved a lot in the past. But please don't pretend to be something you're not. (oh, and you're not a trust either).

Ah, there's that "tar brush" but nobody should use that, and just encourage the preservation of aircraft, and if one wishes, donate or assist.

Apologies, that point was not made all that clear.

That said over the last 15 years or so I have personally had contact with, or 'assisted' three of the organisations that you cited earlier today, with their operations and aspirations.

Also in terms of airworthy 'warbirds', back in the mid 1980s I participated in an assessment process that saw Newark Air Museum aim to put a Saab Safir back into the air and hopefully join the then growing Airshow circuit. The estimated cost of £50,000 for one season, saw us step back and recognise that sum of money represented a third of the cost of Hangar to put around 25 aircraft inside. That hangar was built in 1989/90 and still houses those aircraft!

Good luck with pursuing your aims!

You joined at 11:43hrs today....you've made a total of 5 posts, all of which are attacking either 'APRES' or 'UKHAT' and Duncan Halford in particular.

When VTTS first announced a rebuild to flight for XH558 way back in 1999, the organisation had access to a Vulcan suitable for rebuild to fly, a huge amount of spares, Vulcan aircrew, ground crew and engineers involved with the project, support from the CAA and all relevant original manufactures and a suitable airfield to undertake the rebuild and test flights from, not having a dig but you are a long way from being anywhere close to the level Vulcan to the sky were in the early days.
