The second pass was ridiculously low, looking at footage on some of the Mach Loop fb groups. No doubt impressive to see, but going from the videos I've seen from Cad East, it's dangerously low for a beast that size. :claypole:

Nice...

BTW: I'm plannig to visit the Mach Loop on the Monday and Tuesday after RIAT. The schedule says activities are expected between 12:15 and 13:15 on both of those days. How strictly do they stick to the previously announced time slots? Or is it completely random?
To put it differently: how early is it recommended to arrive?

The timetable is for LFA7(T) which isn't part of the Loop - basically it's meaningless in relation to Loop traffic. Although there's absolutely no guarantee of post-RIAT traffic, the place is going to be rammed. If I were you I'd be looking to get parked up by 8am to guarantee a parking space.

Thanks, that's good to know. We'll be sleeping near Swindon, so we'll have to get a really early start on Monday, I guess...

Saw her head away from Yeovilton this morning, in the direction of The Loop. So seeing the footage here is ........ WOW, if only my mobility scooter would get me up there!!!

Thanks ever so for sharing

It's 180 miles from Swindon to the Cad East/West. It's going to take about 3 1/2 hours to get there. Good luck if you aim to be there by 8am.

Gents,

If okay I will post across what I posted on FC earlier today;

Can I ask that anybody who was on the loop today who took pics and is prepared to have images passed on to the pilot of the C-17 to please contact me, PM or email below. The pilot from the 701st AS is a friend of mine and this has been in the planning since at least August last year, although I didn't really think he would actually get clearance until earlier this week. I don't know the loop and have never been there, wrong side of the country for me so I wasn't able to see this first hand, but did make sure that he knew the various viewing locations. He also had the RAF exchange pilot on the sqn with him (or interpreter as he prefers to call him!). Any assistance greatly appreciated, alternatively as well as Yeovilton tomorrow they will also be at RIAT so by all means have a word with the crew there.

Just to add to the above this has been in the planning since last August, was flown by a 10k+ hours USAF Lt Col and a RAF exchange officer familiar with the area.

Just be chatting to some of the crew while at yeovilton air day. They have huge smiles and some amazing in cockpit videos. Looks like they might be back again next year. They rate the Loop as the best !! Max speed through cad west is 250knts... they flew at 250knts and really enjoyed the second pass. :smile:
