Franciszek Kornicki

Post by Graf Zeppelin »

"It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Col. Franciszek Kornicki, the last war-time Polish Squadron Commander. He died on Thursday 16th November, a month before his 101st birthday. It will be remembered that Col. Kornicki led the RAF Museum poll of Greatest Spitfire V pilot back in September and at one point was leading the poll by over 250,000 votes.

A true friend of RAF Northolt.

Rest in Peace
Cheers Phil

Colonel Kornicki was buried this afternoon at Northwood Cemetery with full military honours including a rather nice flypast from 32Sqn with BAe146 ZE707. Pall bearers were provided by the Polish AF and the honour guard was provided by the RAF's Queens Colour Squadron.
Cheers Phil
