New RAF 100 Special Tails

Post by 138EAW »

Well of sorts  Got you intrigued though didn't it

Two of the preserved aircraft at Marham, have had a special tail added. Wouldn't surprise me if a flying Tornado gets the the same treatment, or same template across the whole RAF fleet

Might / Likely need Facebook to see them, will try and add them another way. For the people who haven't sold their sold to Facebook

Marham like the silhouette theme. The NAAFI has the same ones.

Coincidentally ZG771 /133 has been mentioned as WLT at Marham along ZA469/029. If 133 is WLT that would make only 4 Ts now active

Woodvale's new Hawk gateguard also has the corporate red patch on the tail as well

Hmm this does get a  for them actually doing something.

However it gets a massive    :claypole: for it being the standardised corporate crap we’ve come to expect of the RAF over the past few years.

Allowing each base/unit to express themselves individually would have been better (eg: CONUS).

Here’s hoping flying assets are treated differently!

The silhouettes have been there for a while, It's just the RAF 100 branding that's new.

That's an interesting one, does Marham really need another WLT with the GR4 and F2 already there? Or is this just a way to earmark it and in reality It's effectively preserved?

One of the blue suiters at Marham over on FC has indicated ZA459 / 025 is to be become a preserved aircraft at Marham, airframe is a Granby / Herrick / Shader veteran

Yeah I'd heard that on the grapevine too, though as I understand it It's still part of the operational fleet after birdstrike repairs and Its divert to Leeming. Makes 771 even more interesting though, how many Tornados are Marham realistically going to be allowed to keep? Especially as there's already one on the gate? The heritage centre there going to grow?

A gate guard / memorial for all lost Tornado crews has been mentioned for ZA459

As for Tornados left at OSD, less than 20 was mentioned at the 12(B) lecture I went too, which means at least 1 a month to RTP or withdrawn from now on

Nice bodging of the Victor. Is there going to be a nationwide knackering of gate guards with the corporate naffness? :dunno:

Hope it flies again, it is the only remaining airframe I haven't got a pic of.

Cover the gate guards. And someone will mention how cash strapped they are.
And we should be thankful of a sticker on a front liner.

Good to see the branding people have decided to go with the well known "RAF red" for the RAF 100 logo. I wonder if for their next big event the Army will be courteous enough to go for a nice shade of blue?
