F4U-5N back in the skies !

Post by Col. Chibani »

After having been grounded for 16 years, and following a 10-year restoration, the F4U-5N F-AZEG had made its first control flight with Baptiste Salis as pilot last week-end at La Ferté-Alais.

It will be part of a heritage fligth with 4 Rafale Marine next week-end at La Ferté-Alais :yahoo: .
A drop tank and the radar radome are still to be instaled to complete the restoration.

Why are a lot of the markings which I would expect to be white in fact blue?

Low visibility as it's a night fighter.

Would look good flying next to Red Bull’s F4U-4 and TFC’s FG1D.

Speaking of guns, four twenties instead of six fifty-cals?

Yes. Seems to be standard F4U-5N armament.
