Typhoon Photo opp.
Not seen this anywhere on the furum?
Thought i'd post in case anyone intrested might miss it.
Photographic Event
The RAF Museum Hawker Typhoon that is on loan to RAF Coningsby will be leaving us next week.
On Friday 12 October we are presenting an opportunity for a small amount of aircraft enthusiasts to photograph the aircraft, outside, together with a Eurofighter Typhoon.
We are requesting a donation on the day of £25.00 for this event, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the RAF 100 Appeal.
Please register your interest by emailing
con-gmbmediacommsgrp@mod.gov.uk
and we will confirm your attendance.
Please note, as the Hawker Typhoon is a museum exhibit we will not be able to proceed with the event if there are strong winds or rain, we are currently watching the weather and will update as required.
Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this. I've registered my interest, but I'm not sure how long this has been available for, any idea?

And £30 for four aircraft is called expensive...
Re: Typhoon Photo opp.
That's true, but it's a Hawker Typhoon....

It is.
This is also expensive.

Re: Typhoon Photo opp.
Will the Hawker Typhoon be engine running ???

It is, I was referring to the comments of some on here where they said that £30 for a Catalina, Beech 18, Harvard and Hurricane (likely all running engines) was too expensive. Yet this event has been heralded as a good event, with no such comments. Very odd...
Re: Typhoon Photo opp.
I don't think anyone has said that it's a 'good event' or value for money, it is what it is, and that's two Typhoons, one of which is extremely rare and which will be back in a museum very soon.
Whilst I don't think Threshold's shoot is bad value, that's my own opinion. Unfortunately, other than the Hurricane, the other airframes included aren't a big draw for me....

Re: Typhoon Photo opp.
The Threshold Duxford shoot is £37 with booking fee, so not £30.

Oh sorry, I see. Yes way too expensive for one very decent aeroplane and a grey heap.

Re: Typhoon Photo opp.
Considering Friday's weather forecast, I'd suggest that the admission price for the event is going to be pretty much irrelevant....

Re: Typhoon Photo opp.
I guess they'll let people know if it's going ahead tomorrow. My weather app is saying Friday is looking dry at the moment, it's the wind that could be an issue - currently forecast at 18-20 knots.
Re: Typhoon Photo opp.
Event cancelled, due to high wind speeds predicted.

"some on here" = me, right? Because of my comments in the Threshold thread? Even with the addition of the Hurricane, that event is still expensive to me. I dont recall ever saying "too expensive" at least not objectively. And it's advertised at £35, not £30.
If you really want to hear me say it, I think £25 for a two airframes, one boring and unmarked, and one a museum piece is also expensive.
I also don't blame CBY or whomever is organising this for charging what they do. Nor do I blame the organisers of the four-aircraft Duxford shoot.
No-one has heralded it as a "good event" and Sam literally said that this event is expensive. So both of the things you said are wrong.
I respect you, I respect Threshold, and nothing I've said was personal, so other than bitchyness, I don't really understand why you needed to bring it up? PM me and talk to me directly to discuss it further if you want, but...

Re: Typhoon Photo opp.
Of course it's not just the cost of attending the event.
Petrol
Food/drink
Accomodation
Potential loss of earnings for self employed.
Etc...
So when someone says they consider an event expensive why don't people simply accept that person's opinion and/or personal situation?

The price is what people will pay,
When groups have seen over the past few years.people
Willing to pay £150 for a Vulcan, then a couple of aircraft at £30 is cheap.
