It may not be the cause of the two recent Flanker crashes, but maybe the Ukrainian Air Force should be less lenient with their low level flying regulations in the wake of the three fatalities. They need to take a bit of responsibility, or these pilots and those on the ground are going to continue to be in danger.

When is this image from?

I don't doubt it's recent but with no further info it could be 20,30 years old.

Edit: June this year. https://theaviationist.com/2018/06/10/v ... n-ukraine/

Clearly states that it crashed on landing, so what you’ve just posted is completely irrelevant :surrender:

I assume therefore you know the circumstances of the incident and can categorically state that it is not a factor. 'Crashed on landing' could mean anything until further information is available, but I do question how an aircraft undertaking a normal approach and landing could suffer such a sudden catastrophic event that its pilot is unable to eject safely. Some reports are saying that a criminal case has been opened.

But in case the comment is entirely relevant. Some of the footage of such flypasts and low passes, while spectacular, begs the question of how airmanship is taught and respected in the Ukrainian Air Force. Not a lot, seemingly, and aviation history is full of events where lack of airmanship leads to lack of standards.

It’s not completely irrelevant at all. It merely casts a wider net over what may be less than ideal operating practices over a whole organisation. How do you know the landing accident wasn’t a run in and break at 5ft? Might have been; might not have been.

We don’t. Videos like that shared above do raise valid concerns though.

Apologies, wasn't my intention for the thread to turn into this... :hide:

Such a shame certain members can't seem to keep their speculations and controversial comments away from threads such as this..
