Jag in 05 and the odd Hunter or two,but no Typhoon

Sadly Russ I feel you could be right mate...and no disrespect intended to "badgernelms"

Unfortunately we are even now still getting confused with that event(if I had a £1 for every time someone says "weren't you rained off a few years ago"{as SofA was} then I could fund the whole of AACS myself)
For hopefully obvious reasons we need to dispell that myth each and every time it rears it's head,as it left a "bad taste" locally..something we can do well without

SofA... at the time they wanted to join forces with us.. glad we didn't! at least the F16 demo practice on the Sat won't disrupt any ongoing exams unlike the Tiffie on the fri before SofA!

Even tho overall IC of it all, i 'specialise' in doing all airside stuff / getting the airfield up & running etc etc.. and my aim is to get some different things in, or at least try, as i believe in variation. The A10 prob won't come off but i did request it months ago but worth flagging it up anyhow.. would go well sat next to the OV-10 Bronco wouldn't it!

We have absolutely no problems what to do with the C17. Won't know until the weekend where it is going.

We will find somewhere to plonk it

Incredible coup for Abingdon on the F-16, well done indeed all of those involved. Is it my imagination or does Abingdon seem to be growing both in popularity and participants into more of a medium sized show? Last year the C-17, this year the F-16? Do the numbers on the gate reflect this?

I very much enjoyed last years show which was the first one that I attended. Hopefully I will make it this year, although that depends on the weather being fine again.

The numbers are going up Trevsy, but the thing is we are not allowed to put any banners out to advertise the show as there is a ban from the council (altho this has been challenged since a localised Crafts fair within the town has advertising boards around the area up so seems like one rule for one, one for the other as depriving potentially more people from attending hence to build a bigger cash flow!!!) so has to be word of mouth, internet, flyer hand outs, Papers etc..

The show is now classed as a medium show nowadays.. and debuts for most of the display crews especially the Military ie: Hawk, Tucano, Tutor & F16.

That's just ridiculous! Something that would bring people and money into the area can only be a good thing, thus logical to advertise, surely..?

This may be connected with control of advertisements planning regs? I used to have to submit drawings to relevant planning authorities for shop signs and the like.

AlexC

I think you're right mate,it is to do with "control of advertisements planning regs".

What really frustrates us is that we "play by the rules" yet many other local event(the current Craft Fair in Abbo being but one example) seem to "zap" telegraph poles, roadside fencing etc at will and appear to get away with it.

Maybe thay have gone down the "planning regs" route,I don't know but.......

If you have any pointers, suggestions etc as to what's involved with these planning regs we'd like to hear them please(PM either myself or Oldtower if you'd rather)

Thanks

Coiln, presumably you have the AA or someone put up traffic signs for the event. Could they not be put up early and include the date and website-address? Then it would be traffic signs and not advertising.

Thanks for that captchaos

Yes,the AA do put up "direction signs" for the show and the date is included

However, again due to local(??) planning regs these signs can only go up in the week preceding the show and at a fairly small radius around the airfield locale(pretty much the A35/A415 interchange is as far away as we can go with these...and then not actually on the A34,but on the "roundabout" underneath the fly-over)

Thanks again for your thoughts mate
