Edinburgh Armed Forces Day

Does anyone know any times for any of the Aerial Displays. I hear the Red Arrows are on the Friday and the BBMF are Friday and Saturday.

That'll be great to get the BoBMF aircraft at Edinburgh airport if they're staying over for those days,if not,Definitely Saturday will be a photoshoot day as I'll be at work on the Friday so i can't get to see it both days  Any other aircraft displaying at all other than what was mentioned? Sorry,I've got no details on times etc, keep looking at their website but nothing mentioned yet.

Hi chaps, my understanding is The Reds will be displaying both Friday and Saturday, overnighting at EDI.

Anyone know if it's the Lanc or Dak which will be part of the trio BoBMF? Just informed some colleagues at work and there's red hot interest in this one!

Not sure yet, I'd be happy with either.

BBMF website has an Edinburgh flypast for 12pm and Glasgow for 12.15pm on Saturday 25 June.

I'd just be happy to see anything at the moment. Be it a Typhoon, Red Arrows, Lancaster, Spitfire, Airbus or Boeing Airliners etc.

Be nice if it did happen, but their website says the 24th, and nothing for the 25th.

Noticed that as well, although I was told they would overfly the castle on the Saturday......so maybe not a display as such, perhaps a flypast en-route to their next venue ?

I take it the BoBMF will be flying over the castle too then? If that's the case, fantastic!! I'll be in a great location to capture that as I should be very close to flightpath then.(It'll be a question of my co-ordination capability to take both film and stills!!) :heyhey:

Do the Reds still put Notams out for the routes they are flying? If they do leave on the Saturday there might be a chance to "Ambush" them somewhere in my local area.

I'm not sure,I'd imagine there would be a NOTAM informing other traffic of the intended flightpath, last time I tracked any aircraft was when the Airbus A380 came to Edinburgh, and had tracked that from my scanner,no doubt I'll be keeping a close ear to the scanner for the BoBMF and tracking their progress to Edinburgh.

I would have thought so too. Pretty sure the aircraft performing Castle flypasts for the Tattoo in the past had them.

There must be a NOTAM for the Reds and the BoBMF,will be up to get a good spot on the hillside to film.If as is stated elsewhere,it's the Dak at Leuchars, then I reckon we'll be seeing that on the 25th.

I'm sure the BBMF Website has it down as the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane for the Armed Forces Day over Edinburgh.

Armed Forces website says Flypasts by Military aircraft.

That to me suggests more than 1 aircraft. Also has down a Royal Marines Commando Display. Will that involve a helicopter?

I've been told 7pm, but will post definite time when I get it.

For anyone wanting to catch the Reds arrive at Edinburgh on Friday 24, bear in mind that the Royal Highland Show is on.

The Reds may give a cheeky display for the Highland Show then!! Well,if it's the Lanc with the Hurricane and Spitfire to fly over the castle, then :yahoo: :win: Fly Pasts by military aircraft?!! hope so! Looks likely I'll be kept on my toes if that's the case!
