Great to hear! Haven't seen this aircraft before and I am so glad that she'll be displaying!!

It's a shame about the RAF Heavies, but understandable. Hopefully, there may be a few unexpected displays to fill their gaps, however, even with the current line-up it looks to be a great opener to the airshow season!!

At least it should be dry and not too gloomy, rain is the real airshow killer
I'm pretty sure it wont be as cold as the 2010 show, that was easily the coldest I've ever felt at an airshow I reckon.
but that was my fault.... I should have worn a coat and long trousers!

Fwiw, I read about the Catalina last night somewhere..but can't remember where. I thought it was on here or the show website but your comment makes me assume it wasn't in which case the only other place it might have been was one other forum .. although I doubt it was there.

The DC3 arrived approx 17:45 this afternoon. Fennec, Chipmunk (WK577) and Heliopolis Gomhouria 181 Mk 6 (TP+WX) arrived earlier.

For anyone interested, the Hawk used today was XX230

Quite unbelievably cold here. PhilW has had to warm himself up by photographing wing walking girls. At least that's what he said...

Another excellent show   ..however Neil and his team really have to sort the weather out   for this event. Once again the sun reappears as the show ends ! ..but at at least it didn't rain !

Perhaps it should be an evening event

This year again this was a very nice starter for the airshow season, shame there were no RAF heavies but with current operations that's understandable. Nice addition was the AAC Lynx performing a rehersal for their airshow season! That was very nice addition to pull out of the bag well done!
Yet again great departures by the RAF Merlin and the OV-10 Bronco, this year we caught the OV-10 leaving rather than watch it from the A34 like we did last year.
Weather was rather chilly and yet again the best sunshine of the day was as everybody was leaving. A big well done to Neil Porter and the rest of his team!
It was nice to catch up with some of the usual suspects, Father Ted and family, The Marsh Duo, and a few others!

I nearly talked myself out of coming along first thing. I am so glad I decided to take a chance on the weather being rewarded with a great day out. Some real treats with the Army Lynx and the Anson and Dakota pairing. And the Bronco leaving in the evening sunshine capped a terrific day.

My thanks to everyone involved with the show.

It was dryer and warmer than 2010!

Agree with everything thats been said above, another fantastic little airshow thats fast becoming my favourite.

Thought the Dakota/Anson was superb, but my favourite as always is Frankie !

Well done to Neil Porter & his team, looking forward to seeing what you can pull out of the bag next year. In the meantime have a few bevvies and pat yourself on the back for a job well done !

Enjoyed the day very much...
For me the Hawk was terrific, the Mustang 'whistled' better than ever, all flying displays were good, and I even have to say(never thought I would  ).... what a display by the Breitling wingwalkers!.....they suited Abingdon!
my only disappointment of the day was saying to the crewman sat in front of the aircraft next to the Bronco "Ah,the Tucano....nice display today"...to which he replied "Excuse me sir,but this is not the Tucano,it is a Pilatus" ... I quickly changed subject!

Relax, your not alone! Last year at Swansea the chap next to me said to his daughter (who clearly wasnt interested anyway) those two are Apache's that we use in Afghanistan... As the Black Cats were displaying!

I mistook the Nimrod R1 for an MRA4 back at RIAT in 2005, and was quickly corrected!

Nobodies perfect!

Spoke to owner Tony deBruyn at Abingdon on Saturday and asked the same question after his excellent display with the Bronco in the afternoon and he disappointedly said 'because Neil doesn't want me to' !!! Not quite sure what the reason was, but perhaps all slots were filled.
