Thanks to David of FLAG

Because of the weather expected over Leeming tomorrow, things are not
looking good.
The Lancaster will not (as we speak!) be flying during the day, but is
scheduled to do a flypast at 1930 then land to taxi to 100Sqn.
Unsure at present what is to fly and not to fly and timings may slip.
Flying will commence as planned at 1200 with the Blades; followed by 100
Sqn Role demo at (1230).
Followed by Tutor, Spitfire (1330) Blades Depart (1400) Tucano (1410)
Chinook (1430) Merlin (1430) Red Arrows (1600)
Lancaster and Spitfire (1930+)
Timings are all flexible."

Best I can do and if coming bring a brolly..........

15:30 ; Have just received this too ;

AC arrive at/between following times:

1000 Alphajet
Isaacs Fury
Merlin
Chinook
Reds
Tutor
Blades
1120 Hawk

Displays start with Blades at 1200

Sismore,(or anyone else who knows) is the Coningsby viewing area the best place to watch the displays or is there a better vantage point based on previous families days?Obviously people who have been to families days in the past should know the best viewpoint.I normally watch from the viewing area when I have been to Coningsby in the past.Do they roughly display directly above the runway? Thanks in advance for any info.

When I went to Coningsby for the PDA displays last month, the Typhoon and GR4s were using the main runway as the display line, with the crowd located on the north side of the runway.

Take a look at this guide, the viewing area is located at point B on the map, so if you want to watch with the aircraft directly overhead - you can walk south along Dogdyke road towards the approach lights (points D and E). However a better vantage point can be found at point G, known as the mound - you have a raised position overlooking the airfield allowing excellent viewing of air displays as they display directly overhead.

Hope this helps.

22nd~RAF Wyton families day (Confirmed!)

Is it?.

There is nothing in the Station Diary, nothing on the internal web, no advertising for it and as yet no tickets available.

Someone had best tell Wyton they have a families day then so they can ship in some families to attend. There might be a graduation though which would count for the Tucano.

There was no families day last year because there were very few people based here, there was a fun day at Brampton instead, and this year there are even less people based at Wyton, but again there is another fun day at Brampton next month.

As I said in my original post

I work at Wyton by the way, but then what would I know?.

Looks like Marham families day will get the Red Arrows flypast at 14.20L. Hopefully we'll get good weather or I'm staying in the beer tent

Wouldn't surprise me as she's due at Clacton on the same day....Reds and Role Demo especially awesome from Spotters Corner,if the Ol' Girl appears as well that'll make Benson Families Day really special on the Corner

I think Sismore might be on holiday or just a little sleepy?!? Like the rest of us it seems!

Reds website showing RAF Benson display Thursday 23rd August at 12.30.

Reds arrive Wednesday afternoon at 14.30 and depart for Exeter Thursday at 15.00. NOTAM published for Wednesday's transit showing arrival RAF Benson at 13.29 UTC.

All we need now is the Ol' Girl to show up.

Spotters Corner could be busy!!
