Is it going to include a Christian ceremony?

Because traditionally the Little Gransden shows have a break in the flying for a moment of rememberance/reflection. Air shows, especially LG, aren't purely about noisy jets, scattergun spray and pray photography and a race to the dodgy burger van!

Yes! I went to this show in 2010 and found that I was an unwilling, and because of the remembrance aspect of the ceremony, an embarrassed participant. Embarrassed because I object to being subjected to Christianity while, on the other hand, approving of an act remembrance. But this act of remembrance isn't as you say a 'moment': it's a full blown religious ceremony with a priest and what-have-you. A two minute silence would have been more appropriate, particularly as the two commentators seem to take the opportunity of a break in the flying to get really drunk; one of them was, by the end of the show, literally legless.

A good show, but I won't be going again.

Im the main organiser for the event at LG, to the last comment all i can say is if you dont like what we do at LG dont bother coming, and about commentators getting drunk what show were you at certainly not LG.

I have a few more suprises up my sleeve for this year so watch this space. Don't rule out 405 RCAF at the present time, 70th anniversary this year of the Pathfinders.

Orion, suggesting the commentators were drunk is slanderous. Unless, by "literally legless" you mean he had no legs?

Orion has got a point about the religious bit... I wonder how many would express a negative view if it was something to do with Islam?

Anyway, the show is brilliant; I can't stand religion either, so for me its a good time to go to the loo or go have another burger. :cuppa:

First of all, there is one main commentator, Ken Ellis. His style may not be to your tastes, but he certainly does not drink during the day - and I don't think I've even seen him join us for a beer afterwards.

Secondly, the remembrance ceremony is non-denominational. If you prefer not to take part you are welcome to go for an ice cream, or as my Dave says, take your custom elsewhere. I am not a religious person and I have no objection to shutting up and bowing my head for a few minutes to remember the sacrifiices of those who defend this fine nation, even if such remembrance is conducted with a religious aspect. As the saying goes, there are no non-believers in foxholes, and despite the efforts of the media to say otherwise, this is actually still a predominantly Christian country. I respect that. The massive majority of the crowd at LG do so too. If you find it that objectionable, other airshows are available.

We thank all of our attendees for their support. The more of you come, the more money we make for Children in Need and the other charities that we support.

Find some of the comments here bizzare. Little Gransden is a fantastic show which has an atmosphere unlike any other show.
You'll struggle to find a show where you can get closer to the aircraft as they taxy in and out and the flying display is always well balanced with types that aren't seen at many other shows.
Little Gransden is a must for me now, keep up the good work Dave and the team

With the recent addition of B-17 Sally B to our lineup (thanks to Elly Sallingboe for her superb support which is heartily appreciated), our flying display for this year's show now stands at:

BBMF Lancaster
BBMF Spitfire
BBMF Hurricane
Messerchmitt 108
B-17 Flying Fortress
P-51D Mustang x 2
P-40 Kittyhawk
Yak-11
Extra 330 SC
Tucano
King Air
Anson
Red Sparrows (Chipmunk x 3)
Bird Dog
CAP 232
Yak-52
Dennis Neville's Flying Circus
Falcon
Magister
Whitney Straight
Stearman (wing walker)
SWIP Team
T-28 Fennec
Vampire

For 15 quid (adult) on the day (or 13 quid in advance) I think we are again demonstrating that 'small' charity shows are taking on the big boys this year!

Probably a bit of a random question to some, but will there be baby changing facilities available on the day and also is there a cafe or somewhere that I can get a bottle heated up? It'll just be me and my 8 month old, so the little things make a massive difference.

FTS - I'm pretty sure one of the toilet blocks will have baby changing facilities (i.e. a table - afraid you have to provide your own baby etc.) but I'll get Dave to double check. Bottle warming - there's no cafe as such nor facilities to warm a bottle so you'd be best off bringing a flask of hot water and suitable container to stick your water + bottle in while it heats up - if you get stuck, ask a steward and we can provide some boiling water from the kettle in the hut next to the commentary box but I very much doubt any suitable containers would be available so at the very least bring a jug!

Cheers for the reply Damien. I've tried and tested that routine before at the end of Lakenheaths runway and had no problems, so should be fine. I guess i'll stand out amongst the crowd being probably the only male 'spotter' holding a baby and taking photos at the same time

Hi there

we attended little Gransden with a small one a few years back (she's now 5 and largely autonomous). The St John's Ambulance crew were happy to let us use their tent for feeding/changing (although no table). This was nicely sheltered, except from the roar of the T-28 that started the show. :hide:

The cubs usually have monster tea urns full of hot water so they should be able to supply enough hot water to warm milk.

I'd recommend bringing a pushchair so you can deposit the small one once they drop off to sleep - although the carpark/wheatfield can be challenging to negotiate even with an off-road buggy...

Enjoy, we allways do!

On checking, the disabled loo will have fold-down baby changing tables. We're going to get a bottle warmer so that will be available in the club hut next to the commentary box.

My other half recommends a baby carrying wrap over a buggy any day. Wrap em up, they go to sleep and you can still take photos!

A quite terrific line-up offering variety and value for money, for both the enthusiast and the general day-tripper.

Cheaper than the far thinner line-up at Kemble's airshow-cum-village-fete on the same weekend too.

Bravo to the LG team - hope the sun shines and the Children In Need cup runneth over
