Throckmorton airshow, Pershore

Pershore, Worcs , Saturday 15th June 2012

http://www.throckmortonairshow.com/airshow.htm

Kept meaning to start a thread about this show , but as I wasnt sure if I was going , just never got round to it.
I went to the show last year and it was a really good starter show for familes, with some planes (inclding a torndo's, spitfire). There were also lots of tanks that the kids could actually get inside.

However , the website appears to have gone down, and the owner isnt updating the facebook page. Not sure if this means there is a problem with the show ?
The forecast is not good either. Mind you it was horrendous last year , but they had a 2 hour window where it hardly rained and the planes all displayed.

Show website is backup and running.

Disappointingly the Red Arrows are now on at 10 a.m ( 2 hours before anybody gets there ) , and there doesnt appear to be any Tornado's or Typhoons as previously advertised.
However, there are some planes that may be of interest to many others on here.

Not trying to knock the show as its for a good cause (and yes , theres a but coming), but at £25 a tick for family , its very steep if just one or maybe 1 adult 1 child. I know others moaned about that last time.

Reds are actually on at a crazy 09.42!! - and only a flypast note. But you do have an E-3 and Typhoons are still listed....In fact re-reading that it looks like you'll be getting the QBF flypast element of E-3 + 2 Tiffies....

I think you may have been reading "out of date" pages. The page with the typhoons listed ("Flying Displays Confirmed") and a Reds time of 09:42 hasn't been changed for a while and doesn't match the more recent "download" programme or the updated homepage.

Weather forecast for Pershore not looking good.

The organisor advised me the Typhoons unfortunately cancelled on Wednesday. Dont know why , but seeing as its a charity airshow for Help for Heroes it seems a really bad effort from these aircrat chappies... the red arrows were supposed to also be on the afternoon but now are flying past at 10:02 - when nobody will be there. Seems like its more important they flyover for the 100th time this year for the Queen and London rather than for a much more worthy cause.

There is some chance of a Tornado appearing at the show , but as that hasnt been confirmed its not being advertised.

The weather doesnt look relatively too bad now (light showers) so we may go . Will post some photos if I do.

Their facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Throckmor ... 9657406334

And if anybody can edit the title on this thread to spell Pershore correctly please !

Well I made the annual 160 mile round trip to see what the event would produce and basically it was a total washout. As far as I recall, it was much worse than last year. It started raining as I parked, circa 11:10, and didnt really stop for anything more than a minute or two until the show ended about 15:45. The rain was mostly heavy and it was also very windy. Fortunately I took a spare set of clothes !

Initially, "Static" was only a Chipmunk and a Cessna 182S. Breitling 2 and 3 subsequently turned up as did a Harvard, the Swift Glider Team and the JP. Apart from the Cessna, all of these bravely displayed.

The West Midlands Air Ambulance arrived and stayed on another part of the site for most of the day and there was at least one helicopter flying around, presumably giving rides. I didn't bother investigating.

The only other attendees were an Apache en route to Cosford (it made short display but not where expected !), a flypast by a Merlin of 28Sqn (ex London flypast and en route to Benson), and a short display by the Sea Fury T20. One of the Spitfires due to attend apparently stayed at Gloucester.

I was totally drenched within about 15 minutes of arriving ....however I thought I might get some unusual photos so stayed. Not suprisingly I had a few problems with my cameras (as well as being unable to see through the viewfinders lol) ! More frustating however was the discovery made when I uploaded the pics to the pc that soon after the flying started, I'd accidentally changed some camera settings (probably during futile attempts at trying to keep the cameras reasonably dry), which I'd not noticed and which has caused most of the images to be useless

If anyone can confirm the identity of the Apache, it would be appreciated.

Hello to all. First post here, apologies its a whine. I went to Throckmorton Airshow for the first time on Saturday. What an experience. Advertised as "the premier military and emergency services air show in the Uk"

Advertising standards should really have an issue with that statement. OK the weather was bad but seriously, there was nothing here. a few armoured vehicles (i served in an armored regiment, so not that thrilling), about 8 or 9 police cars, a row of hgv's???

Through the drizzle I saw a chippy parked behind a barrier and a purple jetranger doing pleasure flights. We had of coirse missed the ridiculously early Red Arrows "flypast"!!! Then spent a miserable morning sat in the car waiting for nothing to happen. About 3 stalls. one of which was bbmf and one h4h.

Left after a couple of depressing frustrating hours, £25 lighter, very wet and decidedly pissed off. Even sat on the rapidly empying car park at 11.30 the official website was still proclaiming a full display proramme. An absolute and utter money grabbing disgrace.

While the weather can't have helped, it did strike me as looking rather pricey, considering what was provisionally booked.

Edited some of the more fruity language in your post - as per our forum rules.

Its is a shame that the show has been blighted by bad weather the last couple of years at least.
I think their motives are good as its for charity , so any sort of advertising may be a bit 'self-trumpeting'. Because of the current size, and they are tryign to raise money after all, they cant afford to pay out a lot for some of the jets etc.

May I suggest you email the show organisors to tell them of your experience. They ahve been helpful whenever I have emailed them .

We went last year , and there were loads of tanks and armoured vehicles that the kids loved climbing in and on. And there were enought planes and Tornadoes to keep most happy.

Unfortunately any airshow is so reliant on the weather. Look at even Cosford last year !
