There is a great opportunity coming up soon for all those interested in Aviation Heritage
The British Aviation Preservation Council is holding a one day Stopping the Rot National Conference, which is hosted by the Rolls Royce Learning & Career Development Centre in Derby on Saturday 4 October.
The John Bagley Memorial Lecture – a permanent feature of the conference - will be given by Andrew McGlynn, Head of Development at the RAF Museum, on the Dornier Do-17z recovery and fundraising. Another speaker will be Dave Morris, Curator of Aircraft at the Fleet Air Arm Museum and he will focus on the restoration of the museum’s Grumman Martlet and its French connection. Matthew Hick from the National Railway Museum and Peter Collins from Rolls Royce will focus on the Charter for Heritage Volunteering and the development of best practice. Other speakers will address conservation issues, Comet 4C weatherproofing, Comet C Mk2 recovery and a Bolingbroke restoration.
The conference fee is just £30 which includes lunch and other refreshments. Enquiries are welcome and should be directed to BAPC Bookings Coordinator, John King, at johnking899@btinternet.com or 44, Le May Avenue, London SE12 9SU. Or you can call me John Kenyon the STR Co-ordinator on 01983 872167.

Re: BAPC Stopping the Rot conference Saturday 4th October 20
I nearly posted details of this conference myself, but I ran out of time over the weekend.
There's supposed to be some aviation related stalls in the Training Centre atrium, plus you may get a rare glimpse at some of the Rolls-Royce exhibits in the Learning Centre!

Re: BAPC Stopping the Rot conference Saturday 4th October 20
Just released by BAPC:
"It is with much regret that we have to announce the cancellation of the 2014 Stopping the Rot National Conference, which was due to be held on 4 October 2014.
Despite both an excellent programme and a central UK location at Rolls-Royce in Derby, we have been unable to attract sufficient bookings to make this conference viable. The take up from the BAPC membership has been extremely low.
In order to protect the membership funds, the decision has been made to rerun the conference at a different venue again in 2015 when hopefully circumstances may be more favourable.
The date for your diary is Saturday, 3 October 2015, so you have a full 12 months to mobilise your supporters and to make arrangements to join us for what we hope will be an enjoyable and memorable STR in 2015."
