Any decent vantage points outside?

I only went to Shoreham for the first time last year but can share my experience. The static aircraft in the morning provide some nice angles for pictures from around the fence which goes all the way around the area they are parked at. I certainly got some nice pictures of the Mustangs and Spitfires and the TFC Navy fleet that were there last year.

During the morning display the sun isn't a problem, but the display after lunchtime has the sun in around the 9-11 o clock position during the main afternoon display. Last year I found it was was possible to take good pictures of aircraft coming from our right, as the sun was mainly on the left and any dark aircraft were a pain to photograph. However, I have read that if you position yourself as near the hangars as possible, near the static aircraft, you'll have the best light for pictures during the afternoon. I'm not sure there are good viewing places from outside the venue, if they are, I think they are somewhere behind or near the Lancing college and cathedral, which are quite far away from the venue. I hope someone with some more knowledge will be able to help you out some more.

Not according to the Beeb forecast last night. Saturday would seem to be marginally better. A case of wait and see.....

I see the MIG-15 is at Bournemouth, pity he is not on the Shoreham list.
As for the weather Saturday looks okay but Sunday rubbish but seems to be different as to which site you look at.

ARCo formation of Blenheim and Spitfire Ia N3200 just passed over Chelmsford heading south west.

iGol66 - thanks for the reply. Undecided on what to do at this point, main thing I'm after is to just chase the Vulcan around really, but having shot it plenty of times from inside a venue, I'd like to try and get something different while it's still up and about and there doesn't seem to be much outside Shoreham. There's nowhere outside to view at Dunsfold next week either AFAIK. :dunno:

So, the forecast for Sunday still looks iffy.
I'm travelling down from Bury St Edmunds on Sunday, well I won't be if it's going to be torrential.
I've got a ticket, but the main reason for going was to see if the "Pegasus" Chinook was going to turn up, plus the Seavixen, oh and XH558 obviously!
Well, shall I make the journey and risk getting wet, or will it be light showers and sunshine on Sunday?
Can anyone help me make my mind up?!!! :dizzy: :wall:

I was at the Display today and witnessed the tragedy. To be honest, I'm still trying to come to terms with what I saw. My thoughts are with those who lost friends and family in this tragic incident.
