Any decent vantage points outside?
I only went to Shoreham for the first time last year but can share my experience. The static aircraft in the morning provide some nice angles for pictures from around the fence which goes all the way around the area they are parked at. I certainly got some nice pictures of the Mustangs and Spitfires and the TFC Navy fleet that were there last year.
During the morning display the sun isn't a problem, but the display after lunchtime has the sun in around the 9-11 o clock position during the main afternoon display. Last year I found it was was possible to take good pictures of aircraft coming from our right, as the sun was mainly on the left and any dark aircraft were a pain to photograph. However, I have read that if you position yourself as near the hangars as possible, near the static aircraft, you'll have the best light for pictures during the afternoon. I'm not sure there are good viewing places from outside the venue, if they are, I think they are somewhere behind or near the Lancing college and cathedral, which are quite far away from the venue. I hope someone with some more knowledge will be able to help you out some more.
