Yes, I'm going! This will be my first ever visit to Brunty and it's been on my list for quite a while now! Really looking forward to it and just hope the weather is good!

Have never been before but thinking about taking my Dad as a surprise, will just tell him to be ready to go on a 3 hour road trip at 6am and watch his reaction when we get there

Hello
Thinking of going to this for the first time, could someone please give me details about the show,as in where's the best places to take photos and videos from.
Is there any point in taking my 100-400l lens for photos, are you shooting into the sun, what's the parking like, food stalls etc.
How long does the show last for.....
Thanks
Ian

Main thing is to decide if you want to view the aircraft doing high speed runs coming towards you, in which case position at the end of the crowd line towards middle of runway, or if you want to closely view the start-ups/ground crew preps, etc. in which case, position at the threshold. Sun is behind.

You won't visit an 'Airshow' with better photo opportunities

Also beware if standing next to the runway a lot a dust will be thrown up...especially the Lightning & Victor plus not forgetting the noise.

A few points: it can be quite busy at the threshold so photo opportunities can be tricky. Also ear defenders are a must especially for children. You will not go anywhere louder as you are much closer to the aircraft than at an airshow (the Lightning especially makes the teeth rattle!). The bank behind the runway is a useful photography spot. Parking is easy and very close to the display area. There's usually a burger bar and ample toilets. There's also quite a few stalls selling aviation related goods. It's a great day though and you will not regret the experience even if your ears are ringing afterwards!

Questions for those that have gone before.
Is it a long walk from the car park to where you will be able to see the aircraft taxi? just my Dad can't walk very far anymore which is why Cosford is normally the only thing I take him too as we just park up, gets the chairs out and sit there the whole day.

Hi Andy
No, not at all, your car will be a matter of feet away from the crowd line. The crowd line is 10 feet away from the runway

Hi, I'm planning to pop up and take a look. Gates open at 9am, is the traffic usually bad so do I need to leave plenty of time to get in? When is the first run? Also the forecast looks a bit shall we say "changeable" at the moment, will they run if it is throwing it down? Thanks for any tips.

Traffic normally runs smoothly so it wont take long to get in. First run is usually at 11.00am. I've been there in previous years in bad weather & its not stopped them running.

Thanks very much for the response and advice. I hope the weather is not too bad and we all have a good visit!

Some of the best shots I've seen at Brunty are when the runway was wet, wet, wet.

A seriously underrated show in my eyes this, incredible photo opportunities and to be that close to so many fantastic aircraft makes it worth the £15 - especially for the Lightnings and I have to say the VC10 was an incredible end to last years proceedings.
Just gutted I can't be there for the May weekend as I'm being dragged to Paris by the missus, goddamn romance spoiling my fun......

Maybe you should adopt a 'halfcarrot' attitude so she won't be so keen on romantic getaways

I'd love to go, but as always, it clashes with other events. And typically, last weekend and next weekend are very sparse! Oh well, I should be able to make the one in August.

Going for the first time on Sunday.I assume it's ok to take a chair to watch the displays or do most people stand ?Really looking forward to seeing/hearing some of the aircraft like the Lightning and Victor as I never saw them fly whilst they were in service,at least I will know how they sound throttling down the runway.

You probably won't be able to see when sat down as a crowd forms for each run. However when I went last year I brought a deck chair and sat back from the crowd between each run.
