Prestwick/Ayr airshow.

Post by Alanko »

The King Air display team are down for the 3rd/4th of September, sharing duties between Portrush and 'Scottish Airshow'. I read a couple of things about funding structures ahead of the next Ayrshow, so I'm guessing that it is at least going ahead.

I saw mention of it starting earlier on the Saturday, so at this rate I will be taking the Friday off work! I, and I wager a fair few other Edinbuggers, took the train over there and still managed to miss the beach assault display.

The new facebook page is calling it the "Scottish International Airshow." Wouldn't read in to it too much this early but interesting to note. Also supposedly it is a three day event this year, 2nd-4th, unknown what will happen on the Friday though.

A 3 day eventer? I'm just planning on driving down to the hotel on the Friday!! Much as I would take the train Alanko, I prefer driving. The whole experience of loading the car with camera gear/scanner,travel cases and me and my mrs heading from planet Southside to Prestwick is something I do enjoy! I'll be at my usual place on the Saturday for the flying display, just by Greenan castle under the run in for display path!

There has been talks about a night photoshoot so the Friday could possibly be that.

Wonder what this Years big billing will be? It was the final Scottish Appearance by The Vulcan last year.

Interesting to see what we get this Year?

I know that they would love to get that Norweigan F104 that's being restored but it hasn't flown yet don't think

 Any mode of transport just to get to an airshow will do, I'd even walk! I know what you mean!
McG,,Nooooh! But you know they probably already have!
Joking aside, If it were to be rebranded as the Scottish International airshow, then here's hoping more international participants wade in with a surprise or 2. USAF etc!
As was pointed out in another post in this thread,we did have the final display appearance from XH558 in Scotland. So they're going to have to get another showstopper.

...from Facebook. No B52 display as the wing tips would collide with runway infrastructure (somebody had asked). No Chinook display, potentially, because of technical issues. Does this affect all Chinooks at the moment?

Good solid start.

Still unsure if I'll make this, or if I'll be heading to Austria for Zeltweg.

Quite different from last year, even with only a handful of acts announced. Definitely good reason to go for three days?!
