Parking plans are in progress with quite a bit of the parking off site but close, plus the area that you referred to as overspill which for the photographers puts you nearer the 34 threshold for touch down or turn off pics with the sun in the right position.
Parking plans and airfield layout diagrams should appear on http://www.halfpennygreenevents.co.uk a bit nearer the time.

For most enthusiasts, Mildenhall Air Fete used to be the season opener - long gone and greatly lamented. Times have changed, we're much older, the demise of Air Fete left a massive hole at this weekend bank holiday time of the year. Perhaps R & T will fill this gap, okay not quite heavy metal, but I'm sure will be made up for with lots of enthusiasm and hopefully plenty of sunshine/blue skies (fingers crossed). And definitely no corporates. I wish you every success, bring it on!

Hi All.

Bumper update tonight...aircraft confirmed as follows:

First off we have the Morane Saulnier MS.733 Alycon naval trainer, arriving from its base at Spanhoe, near Corby.

The next aircraft we have is a well-loved radial; a Boeing Stearman (G-AROY). This is one of the many aircraft from Leicester Aero Club which are supporting the fly-in. Another Club aircraft also confirmed is Piper SuperCub, G-ARAN.

Another radial in the form of yet another T6. This particular example is painted in an attractive SAAF scheme and is based at Staverton.

And finally we have the very unique Helio Courier, also coming from Spanhoe. This, and the Alcyon, are the only examples on the UK register that are airworthy.

Will it be parked next to the Argentine Air Force C-130 strategic bomber?

Excellent list, lets hope it all turns up and the weather plays ball. Is it hit and miss what comes which day or is the plan for the aircraft to overnight stay and depart Sunday?

There are a small number of aircraft due to remain at the airfield overnight, including some of the larger types. We've also heard from a number of pilots expressing that they will be visiting both days, but not staying overnight (i.e depart Saturday evening to arrive once again on Sunday morning).

Cheers for that, at this stage I think I can only do Sunday, depends on whether I can persuade a 4 year old otherwise

Just checked and my journey is 163 miles. Not often I would travel that far for an event but you are putting together a very attractive programme. You may be surprised by just how attractive you have made this.

Aircraft parking looks as If going to be a bit tight. Will, once parked up aircraft be accessible or will the normal flight line be in operation? And will the local vine yard be there, nice produce as the Mrs can testify

How did you manage to change the serials on your quote, changing the Alcyon to a Super Courier and the Super Courier to a Hurricane? :dizzy:

Surely the SF260 is an imposter under Stars n Stripes as well

Looking very good, lets hope for Gazelle bash weather!

Looking good in it's new scheme, though I preferred the French markings..

Ooh I dunno, it's in an authentic USAF aggressor scheme and all that!?!

This is looking a great event - really looking forward to it. Will there be an area to catch arriving aircraft (depending on runway in use of course) but that corner between 10 & 04 used to make a lovely place to watch and shoot back in the day.... :snack:

Throughout the event there will be no access airside. For those who know the layout of HPG, there will still be access to the picnic area and surrounding grassy areas will also be open for public access. With regards to the local vineyard, I'll get back to you on that one!

That was a rather stunning faux pas on my behalf, can I blame it on the couple of pints of beer that I'd consumed beforehand? I did quickly remedy it afterwards, thought I'd got away with it Scot free.

Granted it is a rather tenuous link, but can I get away with saying that it has a USAF roundel and was previously used by Air Combat USA?

With regards to arriving aircraft, it's hoped that the parking space available for people arriving by car will be in the easterly most corner. This means it should offer close views of aircraft on short finals onto runway 34 (of course all highly dependent on the prevailing wind direction).

IIRC, I was doing a little bit of light reading on G-ROBT due to it spending a fair amount of time in the back of a hangar at Turweston and not knowing a great deal about it. In my squiffy way, it somehow wandered into the update.

I should write a book on my alcohol induced escapades....
