I've bought myself a ticket for this.

Gazelles were what got me into this hobby, and I think news of the French involvement (great work, btw), has swung it. And I've always needed an excuse to visit Middle Wallop.

Looking forward to it!

We've had a few questions regarding the home team and QinetiQ. Discussion with these Gazelle operators is still ongoing and we hope to be able to make a further announcement regarding participation between now and the event, which is now less than a week away.

It doesn't say that on the website. If visitors don't read this forum, many may just turn up on the day. Can tickets be purchased on the day from the museum?

Hoping for an Apache or two :heyhey:

Looking at ticket sales we may still have a (very small!) number of tickets available on the gate but buy in advance to guarantee your ticket - we'd hate for you to be turned away on the day!

We'll be in a position to announce AAC participation within the next 24-36 hours.

Out of interest what was the surprise that was hoped for?

A nice little event helped out by the stunning weather, all crews very accommodating, at times perhaps a little too accommodating from a photography perspective. Shame the AAC couldn't have pulled a couple of other airframes out for the considerable crowd gathered, the Historic flight types would have fitted quite well. Additionally Boscombe's Gazelle :dunno: would have been a more than welcome visitor travelling that huge journey.

Tiny gripes aside though, good of the French to give us a lap of honour and a great collection of Austers, caught up with the ex RAF Husky at long last, so pleased with that.

Great job

Thanks! The 'Billy Butlin Beagle' was a late substitute for a poorly Auster, so you struck lucky on that one!

The surprise, we hoped, would be something from Boscombe Down, but operational commitments meant this wasn't possible.

The Army Air Corps provided three Gazelles, from both 5 and 7 Regiments, as we requested and agreed with them and with other departments.

The Historic Aircraft Flight Skeeter was on display, their other aircraft are currently undergoing maintenance ahead of the airshow season.
