The static looks rather thin with only the Chinook, Hawk and Tucano lined up so far....
Anything to be added?

According to the website the static will be mostly from the locals in the form of BHHH, Shipping and Airlines and the Wessex Club. Which is what it was like in the glory days of 70's and 80's when Biggin was the best civil show in Europe.

That's because the participants are all flyers :joystick:

Can the Belgian F16/ Czech Gripen use flares at Biggin Hill?

The Belgian F16 did use flares last season. But I have not yet seen any this year.

I have seen many rehearsels at Kleine Brogel of the Belgian solo display and not once did it use flares this year.

So I don't think it uses flares this season.

I would be very surprised to find a civilian business airport that has parking slots available for armed military aircraft...

I'm fairly sure that it did use them at Yeovilton.

Yes definitely used them at yeovilton. It comes down to safe storage of what is termed explosives. Yeovilton has such a facility, Fairford has not and I assume Biggin wont

Its very unlikely you'll see fast jets using flares at Biggin Hill - not only for storage reasons but also because no-one will be doing full shows due to the controlled airspace above the airfield which restricts displays to maximum altitude in the region of 2,400ft.

The Airfield has a notam for closure on Thursday 17th Aug between 1400 local and 1500 local to
allow for the French Military Display team accreditation flight, so may be worth a look.

Thanks - I remember seeing the Belgian F16 at eastbourne using flares but it must have been based at Manston (when it was open) rather than biggin hill??

Also is the airspace restriction present at all times? That mean possibly no high shows from the Patrouille de france/ Red Arrows or fast jets? I remember the Brietling Jet Team definitely looping and doing a full show when they last appeared in 2008...

Sunday 20th August flying display - exact order unknown but following displays in times below:

12-2PM
Red arrows take off and return from eastbourne ( display at 12noon)
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight - L/S/H
Belgian Air Component F-16 Solo Display Team
Czech Air Force Mi171 / Mi35 ( is this a combined display now?? 1 hind or 2??)
Breitling Wingwalkers
RAF Typhoon Display Team

2-4PM
Great War Display Team
Royal Netherlands Historic Flight Spitfire
G Force Aerobatics - Extra 300 & Model
B-17 Sally B
Czech airforce Saab Gripen
Bronco Demo Team
RAF Red Arrows - display at 1500

4 - 5:30 PM
Trig Aerobatic Team
Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar Ltd
French Air Force Patrouille de France

The Breitling Jet Team's full display requires a lower ceiling.
Interestingly the F16 and Typhoon are also on around that 12-2 slot at Eastbourne (last time I checked) so I suspect they'll be doing both displays in one flight.

Airspace restriction is due to aircraft holding for Heathrow. Not likely to get many gaps in that unfortunately!

I see that there's argument regarding military aircraft at a civilian airport, which makes me wonder where the Belgian F-16 & the Czech Gripen will be based for the show?
Are the two Czech Mil's going to be flying out from elsewhere then? I'm confused as the Czech support aircraft is in the static?
Would be nice to see the Wessex in the static, aren't there still four of them there. Also is the Beagle Basset still there and the based Dove?

The F-16 and Gripen are to be based at Biggin Hill as well be the Patrouille de France, Red Arrows and Typhoon. The BBMF plan to be as well but can sometimes switch to Southend if the wind is not perfect for them at Biggin.

When are the Patrouille de France arriving? I know they have a validation at Biggin on the Thursday and a display in France on Saturday.
