Biggin Hill 2017
Biggin Hill 2017
What's this like from a photography perspective. Sun behind or ahead. Does anyone have a show layout from the program (assuming it will be the same this year).
August is fairly quiet bar the seaside shows so might give this a visit this year,

You face WNW, so light is ok initially, but as the show goes on, the sun comes round and you end up shooting into it. (Not that there's been a lot of sun the last couple of years!)

Belgian Airforce F16 solo Display added

Re: Biggin Hill Festival of Flight
Great stuff! It's flashes of the old International Air Fair returning!
Re: Biggin Hill Festival of Flight
Looks like they've hit the ground running this year. Patrouille de France AND Belgian F-16 solo pencilled. Well done them.
Tickets aren't even on sale yet, either.

I eat my words! A great start indeed and now a show I'll almost definitely attend.

Almost starting to look like the old Biggin Hill Air Fair again! Well done to the organisers - is it still the same guys organising it but under a different name? Synergy events vs Air Displays International??
Is the festival of flight now like the Air Fair format or is it still like the community open days with restricted ticket sales to local people??

Re: Biggin Hill 2017
So my question about whether fast jets could still display at Biggin Hill was answered pretty quickly! Brilliant news.
I wonder whether the F16/Patrouille de France will be based on site during the weekend? Hopefully some more international participation and maybe the Typhoon to come too.

PDF are only on one day...
Re: Biggin Hill 2017
The RAF Typhoon team are usually based at Biggin for the Eastbourne show, so I assume they will be on site for the show whether they participate or not is another question!

Oh yes I totally forgot Festival of Flight got moved to August. Yes this most likely means the Typhoon will have Biggin on its calender.

Typhoon and Dutch Mitchell added today.
Early days still but it's shaping up quite nicely.
What is disappointing is that the BBMF anniversary quintet display hasn't been allocated to this show, given the significance of Biggin in the Flight's history.

Not for sure but considering it's the same weekend as Eastbourne and the Red Arrows usually use Biggin Hill as their base for all 4 days, they're most likely doing both days of Festival of Flight too (assuming they'll be based at Biggin again).
I think South East Airshow (Herne Bay) is the same weekend too.
Re: Biggin Hill 2017
Possible big turn out from the Czechs according to reports.

If true, Biggin Hill is really pulling it out of the bag.

Re: Biggin Hill 2017
Although the tweet ive seen they have the dates wrong but fingers crossed. Shame that the tickets are restricted to one day so you have to decide which day you will attend in advance rather that being able to decide on the day.

Gripen, two Hinds, Hit and C-295. Taking it with a pinch of salt until they're formally added (and even then, as we know from Biggin 2010, that isn't the end of the story!) but if it all works out, that's a commendably strong commitment!

Indeed. Just seen the listing here: https://airshowinfo.hu/hirek/en/item/38 ... -2017.html
Camo Hinds might tempt me back to Biggin. If they send that ghastly Alien thing, not so fussed.

"Well punk, do ya feel lucky?" They're supposed to be sending 2, but with your luck it'll be 'Alien' & 'Coastal Command' ??
Re: Biggin Hill 2017
Were Czech squadrons ever based at Biggin Hill? If so it could be why they're (intending) to support it so well. Certainly looks like a good line up so far. Hope it comes off.
