15000?! Is that all?! I had more than that round for my dog's 7th birthday party! Why so low? It's as though shows are scared of any negative response if god forbid the great unwashed have to wait for more than 5 seconds in their car to get in or out or wait for someone to use the loo before them or trip over someones shadow! Crazy, surely this affects income... :dunno:

It's more about the local community, airport expansion, good relations than airshow profit. Frankly from an airport that is now so commercial and located in a London Borough it is pretty lucky to have an airshow at all.

Copied from the aviation waffle thread....

Yes correct, the arrivals day is go..........150 tickets go on sale via the Biggin Hill Festival of Flight website at 09.30 Monday morning..........

More details will be released on Monday, but it will be along the lines of entry at 10.00 am and you will be able to stay on the airfield until the last show movement at approx 18.00. You will be located in two areas, with movement allowed between the two, one on the runway crowd line , the other along the 29 runway where some of static and flying display items will be located....There will be a poor weather shelter, toilets and a catering outlet selling food and drink, along with on base parking..
It is expected to be fairly busy all day with show arrivals, as well as, movements to and from Eastbourne etc.... On top of that there will be regular airfield movements too...for example the based classic hangar Spitfire is due to fly 9 times on the Friday..... All that for £15...cant be bad.... :cuppa:

Cheers,

I thought that the admission numbers were more than 15,000 per day for this show? These are even less than the new Scampton show of 25,000 per day.. must be close to selling out? How many did they used to get at the Biggin Hill Air Fair??

Hopefully after this years cracking line up this could mark the return of the Biggin Hill Air Fair, especially when the organisers keep posting old souvenir programme covers from previous Air Fairs!!

I am surprised the Breitling Jet Team aren't coming this year as they had been very regular performers at the Air Fairs/ Battle of Britain shows at Biggin Hill in the 2000s, maybe they will be back again in the future...

anyway brilliant line up this year to all involved

I believe there is an issue with them attending UK shows at the moment, with CAA regulations etc, given that they fly aerobatics in jets.

Thats a shame as they would have been a great addition at this years show as they were almost guaranteed to display at the Biggin Hill Air Fair, from when they were Patrouille ECCO/ Adecco to the Brietling Jet Team, whereas now they only seem to go to RIAT.

The issue with the CAA could also explain why they couldn't display at RIAT this year as RIAT was on their display calendar.....

Hasn't stopped Jersey from getting the Baltic Bees team that also fly L39s, do CAA rules apply to the Channel Islands??

Anyways looking forwards to the weekend at Biggin Hill, first time since the loss of the air fair

No issues with jets performing aerobatics over water in the UK, but the Baltic Bees would all have to have CAA approved Display Authorisations to display at UK airshows. (which they could gain if it was worth it to them) Fortunately for Jersey they have their own directorate of civil aviation.

Having said that, Jersey do follow the CAA's CAP403 for much of their display planning.

Plus the French Air Force C160 Transall on sunday

The Belgian F16 should be arriving today in time for eastbourne tomorrow....

Also does anyone know if the Mi35s will display as a 2 ship as on the Biggin Hill website? a return of the Hinds team? or will it be a mixed two ship with the Mi 171 hip or will it be two solo displays from the Mi35 and Mi171?
