This show does suffer an awful lot from a sense of Groundhog Day. Same acts every year, with a couple of exceptions. A shame, as this used to be a "must-see" event, but these days the years are interchangeable.

Great venue, and so much potential, just needs more creativity with the display programme.

Smaller shows like Little Grandson rely on local assets and favours to keep their displays within ever tighter budgets.

Out of interest, which current display items on the circuit do you suggest they look at?

Whirlwind, Harvard, Huey, Scout, Wasp, Miss Velma, Fury, Seafire, a decently flown Spitfire.

Since the big crowds of the Lancaster pair and Vulcan years this show has become remarkably stale in content.

Dan will you sponsor the event, you talk all about these other items, are you aware of all the increases in charges from the CAA, to even get the Blenheim from Duxford is over £4,000 pouns and with a small budget what do I do. I speak to a number of operators and the regular ones that appear to me lovely deals which fit within our budget, I suggest you come on our committee next year and shows us hows its done, with a budget of about £20,000 pounds.

Toilets are 3,000 pounds to start with, public liability insurance £4,000

I look forward to your reply and welcome you to join the committee next year.

Well said. Too many people seem to think that organising display and getting loads of shiny warbirds can be done for a few thousand pounds, without ever giving a thought to budgets.

Anybody who puts on a "smaller", non-council backed show in the current climate deserves a medal.

There you go, UKAR from the inside of one of the best smaller events in the UK if he's up to the job, would make a great few articles through the year!

Dave, I fully appreciate that through the fault of no-one currently connected with airshows or display flying, the CAA are making organising shows difficult, and have enjoyed myself at Little Gransden many, many times. I also appreciate that the budget is tight. My issue is that it seems each year the flying programme is a cut-and-paste of the previous year's, with one or two exceptions.

Perhaps after Old Warden, Little Gransden is the best natural airshow arena venue of its size. Dogleg crowdline, sun well-placed for photography. I just wish the display line-up each year offered a bit more incentive for repeat visits to make the most of the venue.

I'll try to track down that Barry Tempest article.

And for Dans info and anyone else interested we were only Lucky to get the 2 Lancasters due to the Local wartime connection with Gransden Lodge where 405 Squadron of the RCAF served in the early 40s with Lancasters and with the Vulcan is passing by from other events,
From next year I believe there will be a charge for any Military flypast requested

Blenheim added according to the Blenheim Society's Facebook page.

Any that went last year, how did the new CCA regulations affect things?
