The Typhoon calendar is outdated, showing 2008 events.

The Typhoon is at Southport on the same weekend as Malta, and unfortunately won't be going to Malta:

Hi All,
We are presently having probs with the website but it has been updated a couple of days ago and it shows the possibility of a Libyan Mig 27 for static. This is the first time that ramadan will be over by the time the Malta airshow takes place so the chances are much higher this time. Presently in discussions with a full colonel and a general via multiple approaches and there's hope.

The Libyian MiG-27 has been changed to an Su-24 and Su-22, but they're still TBC. Quite a feat if they manage to pull it off!

Malta Aviation Society organizes for the spotters an entry permit near the touchdown runway from inside or else you can stay on the park where the airshow is held taking shots of fighters coming in.On Monday you can take the dept as well or you can stay on park taking taxxing planes outside.I believe there is a package you can take for the whole airshow see link below:

They are mentioning that Libyan AF will arrive Wed 23rd but this is better to be confirmed from the Airshow staff as I heared it from many people around!!
Hopefully I am praying to see them among us as for sure if they appear it would be the best airshow of this yr!!

Quoting Malta Airshow website:

Spetember 17, 2009

A very sad day where it must be communicated that the Libyan AF will not make it to the Malta Int'l Airshow 2009. After long and intense efforts where participation was approved by both the air force and the ministry of defence in Libya, higher authorities have now declined our invitation. The situation developed last night and fresh efforts were made to salvage the situation but to no avail.

In the meantime, preparations for this year's airshow continue in earnest and there is still a possibility of increased participation by other countries, but this will feature in the participants' list if and when confirmations come in.

I know how hard they worked on this and how good things were looking, as the news release says "higher authorities" declined the invitation ONLY last night!

All the very best to the team in Malta - I am sure you will still have a great show!

I applaud your efforts

I know how many years Joe and the team have tried and this is the closest they have got - it all looked so good too!!!! This is the highest they have achieved up the command chain but all it needs is one person to say "No" and sadly that has happened

If I know Joe this will not be the last time he requests the pleasure of their company - GOOD LUCK for next year Joe!

Saw two tornado GR4's over Essex heading south (very high) about an hour ago, so it looks like they are on their way.
