29. & 30. May 2010 - Piestany Airshow - National Air Days

Post by Eizo »

The 4th National Aviaiton Days will be held at Piešťany airport on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th, May 2010. Being committed to keeping the well-established tradition alive, the organizers have prepared for the visitors an interesting programme, involving foreign pilots and aircraft. In line with the previous years, when the organizer did his best to make the static and dynamic demonstrations as attractive as possible, even this year the programme will be supported by the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic, Slovak Armed Forces, and the Interior Ministry. Our best intention is to offer to the visitors of the National Aviation Days a captivating programme in an attractive environment. Moreover, this experience will be reinforced by a variety of side events and high quality services available at the airport during the two days.
Besides displaying the equipment fielded with the Slovak Armed Forces and demonstrations of Slovak military personnel, the programme will also feature demonstrations by police and rescue services, as well as those by civil aviation agencies, with foreign participation. Among the invited performers are the Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team from Italy, Su-35, Eurofighter Typhoon, Gripen, E-3 Sentry (AWACS), F-16, Spitfire, Texan, Stearman, Ju 52 aircraft, as well as other groups and aircraft. The world-renown aerobatic pilot Zoltána Veres is expected to participate, too. Moreover, a simulated attack on a recently renovated armoured train from the WWII era of the Slovak National Uprising will be conducted.
The national aviation days, originally scheduled for 12 and 13 June 2010, had to be changed due to the general election in Slovakia. Marking the 65th anniversary of the end of WWII and the 130th anniversary of Gen. M.R. Štefánik’s birthday, this year’s aviation days, dedicated to the most successful fighter pilot in the service of RAF, Otto Smik, will be put forward to the last weekend of May 2010. The organizers believe that the visitors will understand the reason for this change and are looking forward to meeting the visitors at Piešťany airport for the 4th National Aviation Days.

Nearest airport:

best option: Bratislava (Ryanair! ATM arrival on Friday and departure on Sunday evening available for 150 GBP. no-frills airline? )
others would be: Vienna, Brno, Budapest

As I read on another popular board the Mig-29 of Slovak Air Force are not allowed to display abroad for another year due to failure in communication system. So it will be one of the rare options to watch their display. :ninja:

Confirmed participants:
Dutch F-16 Demoteam
