I believe that they tried to bring the Libyans here....the comittee has been for sure trying hard over and over again yr after yr!!Even this yr I am sure they tried to get them to here!!Sadly since many Libyan types(such as the su24) has not taken part in previous Libyan airshows such as Lavex itself I think it would be harder to appear ina foreign country like Malta!!

I think that is a little unfair foxfour - they posted that in good faith and they were more positive about attending than ever before, even down to arranging their accommodation and paperwork etc! Every year the organiser speaks to the Lybians and last year it was most definitely ON right up until the Thursday if I recall! There was never any false hopes and no one was more upset than Malta Airshow when they did not appear! They have tried again this year and will again next year and for however long the Malta Airshow goes on for!

So with yr same reasoning the RIAT team gave false message when they lsited An32 SriLanka this yr cos it did not turn up,altough it was listed sometime before that it has cancelled.The Libyans confirmed their cancellation Thu before the show!!!!I have known Joe Ciliberti for sometime now and he is a maniac on the USAF I am sure he puts same pressure on the Libyans same as he does to the Americans!!

Just to set the record straight here. I'm not accusing any airshow organiser of deliberately trying to deceive the public by putting out false information about aircraft participation. I've been around long enough to know that things get cancelled and the list is very long over the years. The point I was trying to make is that we all get our hopes up for these exotic aircraft to participate in these shows to often have them cancelled at the last minute. More fool me and anyone else for getting their hopes up, we know we shouldn't but we do.

Well whatever turns up I'll be there. Thoroughly enjoyed myself last year so I'm going back for some more. Would be lovely to see a Spit and Hurri over Malta again but for the time being I'm just glad its going ahead.

Belgian F16 listed also 2 harriers and 2 tornados from 41sqn...not bad....
