Roma International Airshow 2012

Postby iaint on Thu 20 Oct 2011, 5:59 pm

Does anybody know what this event is like? I spotted it earlier today, and have noticed that (from my pigeon translation of italian) that the Blue Impulse have been invited... From the website it appears to be a gathering of display teams? But maybe others who have been before can say what happens...

I think the rule that Japanese military aircraft are still prohibited from leaving Japan unless it's an agreed military exercise (part of the post-WWII treaty) so sadly I doubt we'll be seeing the Blue Impulse team anytime soon.

I was looking at this event the other day!

To be honest, the RSV demos would be worth it alone with the C-27J, MB339, AMX, M-346, Tornado and Typhoon as well as 15 Stormo!

The Blue Impulse have displayed at Nellis AFB before. So that's not strictly true.

Dutch F-16 according to the show's Facebook. Apparently, the line-up is due to be published any day.

Despite the low PDF image quality, it is rather a poor programm? 4 jet displays for a whole day, not really an attractive program?

Depends on what you look for in a show. I'm rather pleased there's some Italian civvie aerobatics etc  I don't travel there to see the Belgian and Dutch F-16, so seeing them in the line-up does nothing for me, though no doubt that will make others, particularly the locals, happy.
On second thought, it'll be the first time I'll see our new Belgian display schemes, so I am actually happy I don't have to wait another 3 weeks.

I'm sure I'm reading 2xF-16 demos, 3xRSV (tornado mb339 and amx), plus the two Jet display teams aswel!

Plus some nice extras you just won't see in Britain so I'm happy enough..don't get me wrong I wanted RSV typhoon but Neva mind.
