Exactly as last time, only that time they actually overflew Waddington's show en route Zeltweg. You couldn't make it up.... :wall:

Great to see the Fitters, helps to forget about the loss of the flying MiG.

I think you mean Slovenian PC9, though Slovak one would be a real premiere!

Quite a nice line up this year with the Fitters being the highlight (so far  ).

Unfortunately the BD-5 must be taken off the list as the aircraft crashed shortly killing the pilot.

Yeah the loss of the MiG is bad but I also did not see it at Volkel so I expected it would not be at Zeltweg also...

Still going to be a great show and there are no tickets to buy anyway as it will be free entrance!

Don't care about the AWACS but the Hornet canceling is very bad news. On the official facebook site they stated that the Swiss AF's display pilot is not available at the moment.

Looks like many shows face cancellations these days when I look at Kecskemet and Wittmund threads....

Any news about the rumored Saudi Tiffies btw.!?

...still hope for a last minute highlight...

Official statement:

http://www.lw.admin.ch/internet/luftwaf ... splay.html

Rough translation:

The pilot supposed to fly the F-18 display this season did not succeed to maintain the high quality and challenges necessary for airshow display flights during the training and preparation period. The responsible Air Force officers and the pilot himself decided to step back from this task. The decision does not relate to his position within the squadron. The presentation of solo displays with F-18 at airshows and similar events is provisionally cancelled. A decision about the continuation of the display will be made later.

Is it just me or is there some bizzare goings on with European solo jet demonstrations this year? Never known anything like it!

I can kind of understand the Ukrainian - not a lot of flight hours and shows to perform at, the Slovak's less so as they've been on the scene a while and have displayed far and wide, the Swiss, well that really is a bombshell. Always such a proficient display - that's going to be a real loss to the circuit, I can't recall of a European display being pulled before it's even started......

We are expecting the Saudi Tiffies next week at Luqa so I think they are not coming at Zeltweg (Until now that's the rumour at LMML that they are skipping Zeltweg)

Can anyone help me with some spotting locations for the arrivals on Thursday? I've been to the eastern side of the base, but not to the western one. Weather websites predict an eastern wind, so arriving aircraft may come in from the west.
I can see what may be a good spot - the street called Maisweg in Aichdorf. Is that an okay location? Isn't the motorway's embankment blocking the view? http://goo.gl/maps/5TOQ5

Thanks!
