Looking forward to Belgian NH90 display. Dutch Apache demo with all those flares is something I'm always pleased to see too.

This show is really shaping up well.

If the 2014 air assault scenario plan is displayed again, it would be nice if......

Section 1 - Air Assault = 2 NH-90's were to assault along the runway so more people can see what is going on not just 1 on the show centrepoint leaving masses of people unaware of what is going on.

Section 2 - Ground Assault = Shorten the ground assault section, as to be honest, you could see nothing unless you were on the centreline. Also many were loosing interest as 1,000's of rounds were fired off with no idea of what was going on.

Section 3 - Show of Force = The multiple passes by 4 - 6 F-16's... usual airfield beat up, nothing wrong there!!

Section 4 - Re-Supply/ Pick up = A Ke-Sanh approach by 1 C-130H, load up, and take off, followed up by 1 low pass.

However after what's happened recently in Belgium, I'l be just happy that the show goes ahead.

Czech Gripen flying too, and the Italian Tyffie. So that is 2 F-16 displays, 2 F-18 displays, 2 Gripens, 2 Mig-29s, 2 Typhoons, Superhornet and Rafale as fast jets in the flying display.

Talking of which, this will be my first visit to to Florennes what is it like for photography? I've attended events in KB and loved it. I'd be interested in knowing any pluses or minuses about Florennes. Does Florennes have a photography pen on the corner of the runway for taxi/ take off shots like in KB?

It's not the best-

Image

Crowd line is effectively the Southern parallel runway so as you can see, is a loooong way from the active runway and the area between is undulating heathland with plenty of bushes and small trees obscuring the view, though the actual display line is nearer. That runway/taxiway is also used for the large a/c statics- usually un-barriered so get in quick! The North-South facing hardstanding is used for modern/fighter statics and good shots can be had here, smaller/civvy types are usually parked along the Southern taxiway and grass though much of the area is arable farmland and not open to the public. The large concrete pan to the S-E and the connecting taxiways/HAS areas are used for the majority of display items and good shots can be had of them returning/leaving to the active runway after 12pm-ish. The sun is behind you most of the day and some half decent flying shots can be had if they come close enough..if! So simple answer to your question about a "pen" is no - you're nowhere near the runway!
Though KB's crowd area is quite thin, it never seems overcrowded; with so little space at Florennes it can feel a bit "intimate". No one of the better venues for sure but there are far worse and it's a cracking line up...

Cheers for that info ST24.

I stand to be corrected but on the official website there is a map of the base and it appears that for the arrivals/departure days we  will be positioned on the old runway which intersects the two parallels.

Would be nice if the Boeing Super Bug demo uses a CAGbird - but I won't be complaining if it ain't.

Roll on June.

 Expect a fair old walk too, at the last show, the parking was at the farm visible on the far right of that image behind the display aircraft pan... you walked from there to the entrance which was towards the end of the HAS complex at the other end of the display aircraft pan.

Early arrivals get a decent car parking spot but the later you arrive the further the walk

This show has gone completely barmy. Are they trying to book every act in Europe? :dizzy:
