I'm afraid they won't be there.

Probably saw the weather forecast!

In all seriousness, they were making the effort for Lens Airshow which was marking the Canadian contribution to the First World War. Perhaps without that event other operational reasons took precedence.

On the plus side though, vapour and weird cloud formations to make for more interesting photos...

See? You can put a positive spin on everything, with a little effort.

Besides, Chrisse's right - the night-show at Sanicole is still four days away. The forecast could (and probably will) change twelve times between now and then.

Oh man, I really do hope the forecast improves, looking like heavy rain ALL weekend. I perfectly understand it can and usually does change but it's not looking great. Fingers crossed guys!

Have to agree, I've gone from advocating remaining positive to being pretty pessimistic myself in the space of about 24 hours...

The forecast really is utterly horrible at the moment!

It is, but to add some positivity - I've seen some cases where the weather has been completely opposite to the forecast and also where the forecast can change from one extreme to the other.

I'll be honest, I bought a rain cover for my camera. This means the universe is now hellbent on teaching me about wasting money and keeping faith.

Chrisse - what's the parking like for Sanicole? Are we likely to need to be towed out of a quagmire like Fairford a few years ago?

That would be surprising. Truthfully, it's not terribly wet. I have not seen any such catastrophes at Sanicole yet, the ground there is very dry. As a matter of fact, we always need some rain leading up to the show or security services start losing sleep over the pyrotechnics, that is how dry the ground is there.

The parking areas are fairly sandy and the main access is hardstanding - they are also full of drainage ditches. Worth taking some boots though as the public pedestrian areas of the airfield do tend to get pretty cut up over the weekend

Sunday is now looking ok, but tomorrow looks apocalyptic!

I'll be taking fishing waders, a Barbour jacket and diving equipment.

Don't forget the snorkel.

I suspect Friday evening might be spent in the hotel bar rather than at Sanicole. However, we're British and what's a little rain?

Thank goodness I studied French? It says...
"We are looking for a Present in KB, Belgium. Hopefully we can find one before the end of this day? We are not staying, Why?...because it's gonna pour with rain!"
