Meeting Aérien de Lens - 10th September

Post by clearstone »

Another good airshow to watch over in Europe during September is Meeting Aérien de Lens. Lens is in easy reach of the UK in Northern France close to the Belgian border. Though the main show is on the 10th, Saturday 9th shouls also see a smaller evening airshow going on previous years.

The show always celebrates a theme of parternship with another nation. This year it is the turn of the Canadians and it will celebrate the commemoration of Vimy Canadian victories and 70 coast of Loos-en-Gohelle, in April and August 1917. Already confirmed is the Czech Air Force JAS-39C Gripen solo display and Patrouille Reva.

Lens doesn't have a runway apart from a grass strip. They will do a flyby. All jets operate from Lille airport.

Static NH-90TTH (TTH replacing the NFH I believe) added. Also a whole of of Aéronavale, but no specific information yet (7 aircraft and 1 helicopter). Alizé will also be part of the flying display.

Due to considerably higher security and policing costs, the airshow has been cancelled.
