Croatian International Airshow 21-22 July

Postby Jakesplanes on Sun 22 Apr 2018, 6:36 am

Not read anything on this show here so far. The wife is looking for a cheap holiday so this may tie in nicely.
Hungarian Gripen
Austrian Sk105
USAFE F16
Spanish Hornet
RAF Typhoon
Croatian MiG-21
Plenty more. Any opinions, reviews, advice?

The RAF Typhoon display is not attending, the website is wrong - it may be static only but there have been no discussions with the Typhoon team whatsoever.

Interesting as the official website has it down, but also airshowinfo and Milavia, normally fairly reliable. Still it’s the Mig-21s i’d be going for.
So anyone been before?

Some friends from Croatia confirmed there will be RAF Typhoon display, but not from RAF Typhoon Display Team.

The selection of jets on offer is presumably related to Croatias future requirement for a Mig21 replacement. As such the RAF Typhoon display is probably a BAE sales pitch

So it'll be a static display then. :handbag:

I asked the display pilot two Mondays back if they were going whilst chatting as it wasn't on their list and the answer was a clear no.

So that leaves a test pilot display and/or another nation and/or static appearance.

Or flypasts by a jet or jets deployed near to Varadazin, as is the case with the pair of Spanish Air Force EF-18Ms due to appear at the show.

As will be the case with the USAF doing a flypast from Aviano. The Hungarian Gripen will fly out of its homebase at Kecskemet and also doesn't perform a standard display, avoiding the use of AB as much as possible. Mig-21 does a few flypasts, it's not like the Romanian display. Most if not all NATO fighter displays would find it impossible to perform a full display at Varazdin due to the distance to an airfield with emergency equipment.

RAF Typhoons arrived at Zagreb. Be nice to see that formation repeated over the weekend at Varazdin
