Sanicole's Tiger Airshow

Post by Chrisse »

Some of these participants were mentioned in the Tiger Meet topic, but surely this show merits its own topic with such a participant list.

20 September 2009
International Sanicole 'Tiger' Airshow

http://www.sanicole.com
Location
Don't be deceived by the road at the southern end, it is military service road and not accessible.

Presentation will be in Dutch and English, the latter done by the legendary Sean Maffett.

Most participants operate from Kleine Brogel, only helicopters and some small aircraft fly from Sanicole's own airfield.

Being only 2 days after the Tiger Meet's spottersday at Kleine Brogel, perhaps some may be interested in making a weekend out of it. If there's a few friends going together, perhaps this place could be an interesting option to stay at, located in-between Kleine Brogel and Sanicole, as listed on the Tiger meet's website: Molenheide

Confirmed so far, all flying unless stated otherwise:

You can add the solo Hungarian Gripen to the flying display, plus a formation with 1 aircraft of units participating in the tiger meet, this being a special Tiger paint if they have one:
F-18 (CH), F-18 (ES), F-16 (B), F-16 (N), F-16 (NL), Mirage 2000 (F), Rafale (F), Gripen (CZ), Gripen (H), Mirage F-1 (ES) and Tornado (D)

And there are still a few more things to come...

Come on, they're 'better than the Red Arrows' (to quote Ron David at Biggin Hill last year). :handbag:

I actually really enjoy their display. They've improved a lot since I first saw them in 2002, in my opinion. Their musical accompaniment is quality, too. What's not to love about a display team flying to Hans Zimmer's 'Pirate of the Caribbean' theme?

Sanicole's really bringing it this year, a top notch selection of participants on all fronts.

They were absolutely excellent at Zeltweg... and no, I don't think that was just as a result of the backdrop. Their display seemed a lot more dynamic than previous occasions when I've seen them.

Anyway this is all shaping up rather splendidly...
Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...

Oh guys! Know its not necessarily your cup of tea, but the Edge 540 isn't exactly common in Europe (outside of RBAR events), and its being flown by a top US pilot and US National Aeros Team member - 25 year old Melissa Andrzejewski (info obtained from Chrisse's link!). To my mind, a very good addition on rarity value alone...

Not so keen on Ali though!

Agreed with that man. It may not have an afterburner, but it's a rare act nonetheless. I'd be chuffed to see it fly, to be honest. But that's just me. Maybe I'm easily pleased!

Not quite as exciting as Melissa: USAF B-1B. (source: Sanicole at airshows.be)

Question now is whether it is in addition to or instead of a USAF KC-10.

Flying due to no runway for such an aircraft at Sanicole. If it tried to land, they'd have pieces to build a gate guard

And about the exciting part: good to see some competition for Guinot

There you go

Sanicole now confirmed at Airshoww.be that the Bone would be in addition the the KC-10 fly-pass announced earlier.

Just updated the participant list in the first post. This show is going to kick some serious rear-end... The only thing that can spoil it is bad weather, I should think.

Sanicole also stated that the public area has been increased by 20% to deal with the expected higher number of visitors.

B-1B cancelled due to operational requirements, USAF participation at Sanicole will consist of a KC-135 and KC-10.

Other changes: No Ali Ozturk, no Red Bull Alpha Jet, but this will be replaced by the Red Bull F4U Corsair, and no RNHF Sea Fury, which will be replaced by Mustang 'Old Crow'.

Flying display will run continuously from 10:00AM until 18:00.
