Sunderland Air Show - F-86??
Sunderland Air Show - F-86??
Does anyone know anything about the F-86 Sabre which is suggested on http://www.militaryairshows.co.uk to be a possible attendee at Sunderland?
It also shows Sunderland (as unconfirmed) on the display list on the aircraft's own website, but as it also shows Elvington, which everyone has known for months isn't happening, i would question how up to date this list is.
The Sunderland events website however, whilst in every other respect matching what militaryairshows.co.uk says, doesn't mention the F-86.
Would be great to see it, having only seen the f-86 as a museum piece previously. any ideas whether it's flying this season, or if it's turning up at Sunderland?

Re: Sunderland Air Show - F-86??
I have thought that myself. I think it may not be turning up, but you never know. The past few years (apart from last year), has seen a few aircraft do a couple of flypasts of the display line, before the airspace closes. A couple of years has seen a Jet Provost amongst others show up before airspace is closed for the display.
Hopefully I will be there both days. Especially the saturday.

Likewise, going up there friday, weather looks a bit hit and miss, but we can handle a bit of rain, just so long as the sea fret doesn't come back this year!
Been let down by the Vulcan at Waddington the last 2 years (though we saw her from the roadside on saturday last year).
Still, at least we're getting used to the disappointment, so even if she's a no-show, it looks like being a good weekend. One more chance to see her fly at Leuchars in September, so with a bit of luck i will see her at least once this year.
I note they've pulled out all the stops and arranged a friday night opener, with flypast from dutch F-16 and appearance from dubious 80's pop act A*B*C*.

thanks for the intel, nice to know when to be looking upwards!
hopefully by the reds' arrival time of 18:58 on friday we'll be in a pub in sunderland somewhere, not still battling wind and rain trying to put our tent up.

F~86 Sabre went back to Duxford on Friday after cottesmore f&f day. so you never know the 'golden apple' might put in a display it was at cottesmore x 2 !.
what we have here is a complete lack of respect for the law !

BBC Radio Newcastle are the offical Sunderland Airshow radio station only they are not covering anyting happening again like BBC Suffolf you can hear the offical commentary in the background but cant make out whats being said had the webcast on for over 15mins and not a word of whats flown, whats flying and whats comming up.
If your broadcasting from an airshow at least talk about whats going on in the air.
Just as I post it we actually get a hear that the Chinook is displays now...

Re: Sunderland Air Show - F-86??
Cant stand anymore of it Radio newcastle must be for rejects from the Jeremy Kyle Show! it really is that bad.
The bloke who is on knows nothing he is making hardly any comments on the flying for the offical radio station of the airshow its worse than Radio Suffolks Lowestoft coverage and thats going some!
Think doing he cat litter tray is more intresting than this what the cats just left steaming away,
They should take a look at BBC Essex's coverage of Southend have the actual commentary on the web not some bolke who talks utter clap trap all the time worst case of verbal diarrhea I have ever heard.
Thak god for the close button, silence is golden
