Bournemouth Air Festival 2011

The Vulcan was invited for a family day at cobham, and was then parked at their pan for the week. There wasn't any fees for parking. And quite a few of the support crew asked if the old Basco hangar was available to park over the winter, so they were still keen on returning.

restricted area are for the boats and beach assault ..... the best place watch in my view is on top of cliff drive in front of the big white hotel. look on multi map and draw a line down the Derby Road as the blades and the reds seem to use this to line up on, I have been on Thursday to Saturday since 08 but will never do the weekend again as I have never in all my years of air shows been threatened to be stabbed because I had the audacity to turn up 2 hours early to get a good spot .............Bournemonth at the weekend with increasing advertising/ popularity has become like a cross between the January sales and last weeks riots. good luck ..... me i will be just doing Friday this year and mostly for the evening show

I wouild highly recommend the Park & Ride. We've used it every year and had no problems. Give yourself plenty of time, follow signs for Park & Ride and just relax and let someone else worry about the traffic for the day. It's always really friendly on the buses and everyone's really cheerful and excited. Great fun for the kids. And you get dropped 2 mins from the beach. Hope you have a lovely time.

Unfortunately I have just been informed that due to security retrictions they will be high fencing around the viewing area which doesn't make for great photos.

To the Airport viewing area it is then!

Airport viewing area is open and is fine for photography as long as you take a small step ladder!

I'll be there tomorrow and possibly Sunday!

Weather not too bad for their display. Cloud must of been ok as they did the heart with the arrow through it.

If they did the heart then they must have been doing the full height display which is good considering the weather earlier.

The cloud did seem to lift late this afternoon and when they returned to Hurn after the Weymouth display they did a high diamond nine loop and bomb burst break over the airport before landing.

Weather's pretty dire here at the moment, quite heavy rain, low cloud and no let up in sight, should have guessed with the airshow in town!

The BBMF Lancaster arrived shortly after 9am this morning, hope things improve and its not another 2010!

Was due to be going down there today for an extra long weekend, but my father-in-law tragically passed away yesterday lunchtime. Managed to book Saturday & Sunday night in ok'ish looking hotels. Used the excuse it would help the wife get things back to normal... Weathers looking good for the weekend, fingers crossed.
