Blades have just had to cut short their display, the helicopter charter operating on Beachy head had a bird strike and called a mayday. Landed safely though and emergency services now in attendance.

The weather slowly closed in during late afternoon, it was amazing watching the matadors flying
in and out the low cloud so close together, Mitch Beulen brightened things up with his afterburner
and flares  . The Reds had to scrub the display, as they flew over Eastbourne and
banked in formation, half were visible and half vanished from view in the low cloud.

just got back from Eastbourne, arrived at 10.30 in low cloud and thought at that point there was little chance of seeing anything fly, however by 12 it had cleared to blue skies and displays started on time.

one of the most improved displays was the tutor, got close to beach line which made good viewing, i was a little let down with the Tornados and the solo Hawk. Both appeared to display much further out to sea and only a couple of times did close passes.

Does anyone know what happened to the 2nd Lynx?, only 1 displayed and as i was on the beach i couldn't hear whether the commentary said anything.

Still at least we got a full display day, which at the start looked very unlikely.

Going Sunday, did the Hunter and F-86 display and where there any special formations as in previous years with the F-16 and the Mustang for example last year?

yes John, both displayed, Hunter looked smart, The F16 teamed up with the Kittyhawk.

Only 1 of the Black Cats displayed, am trying to find out what happened to the other.

went "tech" yesterday, as I think it was Black 2 - Lt Dave Fleming giving the commentary today, and has to return to Yeovilton to be fixed properly...wondered if it was maybe to do with this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-14510964 as Im not sure there are any other helicopters that have been involved in the displays

Not certain but I think the helicopter involved was one doing pleasure flights from the Beachy Head area unless anybody knows any different.

Just looked at the pier web page and it looks as though the camera platform is tied into a £50 package to include lunch in the Ocean Bar so forget that idea.If I remember other years it was open for a charge of £5?
