Local council has a 360k overspend following charges to this year's show.It seems only about 46,000 tickets were sold!

They need to do something very quick thats for sure and if the airshow dates are the same as Bournemouth's next year and they charge then I think that Eastbourne will really suffer. Its sad because ive really enjoyed going to Eastbourne but the council need a miracle here and I hope in some way that they can pull it off cause I for one dont want to see eastbourne die but only time will tell I suppose.

So, they could make redundant a few overpaid Council officials, say total cost of emplying each £50k. Soon make that saving!

 Great show from Beachy Head area and only a Fiver to park all day , with some low flying acts as well. RAFAT landed in 2008 in a Chinook up there on a meet and greet day !.
what we have here is a complete lack of respect for the law !

Everyone shouldn't have a refund, those who paid the money to get into the beach area still had an airshow!

I personaly don't think that everyone should have a refund, I think that £5 is a very reasonable amount for an airshow, I just meant that he probably didn't mean the apology and just said it to get the people back on side and visiting the show.

Update of whats flying from Flightline:

Red Arrows (ALL 4 DAYS)
Typhoon
Hawk
Tutor
BBMF
Blades

Good to see the Reds back on 4 days, especially after the difficulties the show faced after last year. Hopefully the show can pull some of its former stars like the F16 back this year !!

Just read on Aviaiton Waffle that the Belgians have a new display team for 2009....flying 4 SF260s.
Given the Belgian AF's close ties with Eastbourne in the past, I think it would be great to see the 'Hardship Red' at Airbourne 2009 if possible!!

According to Flightline:

RNLAF F-16!!! Great to see this returning!!
RNLAF AB412 (tbc)
Belgian AF Sea King (tbc)

After all of the difficulties of last year, seems like another excellent show is shaping up!

Hi everyone havent posted on here for a while.
I have always said the best eastbourne airshow was in 2006 with the likes of the Harrier, Beligan F16, Dutch F16.
To see that the Dutch F16 coming back to eastbourne is fantastic it has been missed and after last year I think they needed to pull something like back again. Next target is the Belgian F16!

What's Eastbourne like for photography? Will a lens with a 400mm reach be good enough?
