Wales National Airshow ( Swansea ) 2013

Post by Brevet Cable »

Couldn't see a topic on it , so thought I'd start one.
13th--14th July { same weekend as Yeovilton } is the Wales National Airshow in the Swansea Bay area.
Current flying displays are : Red Arrows , BBMF , Typhoon , Tucano , Tutor , RN Wildcat , SeaKing , Breitling Wingwalkers , Redbull Matadors & The Tigers Parachute Team.
Glaring omission - despite requests on the Airshow's Farcebook page - is a certain triangular-shaped aircraft which will be at Yeovilton on the 13th.
Oh , and no Red Star Rebels either !!

Latest missive from them :
Thank you for your comments regarding the Vulcan, unfortunately we have no plans to host the Vulcan as part of our event this year.

We are proud that the Wales National Air Show remains a FREE event for the public to attend. However this consequentially means that our opportunity to raise funds to attract such a historic aircraft are quite limited and we therefore have to choose our displays carefully in order to be able to meet our aims of being able to offer a full display, with a wide variety of aircraft on show.

We have been in discussion with the Vulcan team and for a number of reasons are not in a position to make this happen this year.

Not surprisingly , the Tutor no longer features on their list.
Maybe they'll book "Miss Demeanor" instead , seing as how it's based just up the road !!

We had the Tucano this afternoon all be it the black wings appeal version (ZF264) with a two man crew do a number of passes over the bay.Later the two ship Red Star Rebels which i think may have landed at Swansea Aiirport(Fairwood). And we also saw the two Steamans of the Brietling wing walkers which also landed in Swansea but was hoping for a Typhoon practice but never happend. Also a Gazelle was flying high above the bay all day.Looking forward to having a weekend off from my cafe in Swansea and getting down the beach with my camera looks like its going to be a hot one.

A very nice show yesterday! Had no trouble getting into Swansea and parking, and very little hassle getting out too... So many highlights I could mention.... I think the Reds and Typhoon stole the show for me, both on top form yesterday, and really had the crowd enthused. All the displays were great to see though!

Overall, a very well organised, grand show, and one that remains free! Can thoroughly recommend to anyone to attend the next show, which should be in 2015!:)
