Southport Airshow 2015

Post by eddywinch82 »

The Airshow returns to Southport Seafront Lancashire this year, on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th of September

Unfortunately it clashes with the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain Airshow at Duxford, being held the same weekend, which I was hoping to go to.

Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 29(R) Sqn
BAE Systems Hawk T2 x 2 4(R) Sqn Role Demo
Grob Tutor T1 16(R) Squadron
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Avro Lancaster PA474) both days.

I'm not sure if all these Air Display items are flying both days ?
The info is from http://www.airshows.org.uk

According to the BBMF Official Airshow Schedule only the Avro Lancaster is appearing both days !!?? Whereas http://www.airshows.org.uk Southport Airshow preview says the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane IIc appearing both days, I hope it's the latter ! Can anyone on this forum confirm which of that info is correct !!?? any info would be appreciated.

I've heard it's just the Lancaster.

As it's a big year for the BBMF I think they're spreading their resources out a bit. Cosford has many fighters as does RIAT so I guess they're sacrificing some some shows. I'm sure we will get some privately owned examples

At Least Barton's (Manchester Airshow) get the full trio L, S +H and Blackpool Airshow all 4 both days, (Dakota, Lancaster Spitfire and Hurricane) so weather permitting, thats something to look forward to for us Northwest England Airshow fans. I think your right Jamie hopefully the Southport Airshow will get some Civilian Warbirds. Likely Peter Teichmans Spitfire XI and Hurribomber and possibly Mustang "Jumping Jacques" , so all is not lost I think. I'm going to do the Duxford BOB Airshow Saturday and Southport Airshow Sunday I think. Thanks for your reply Jamie.

Not the Red Arrows, who won't be there for Blackpool Airshow either or any time soon.

And probably not a lot of other acts.

Are you going to tie up this thread , and probably The Blackpool Airshow thread AGAIN, with "will they fly over my house" type posts like last year ?

I would expect quite a bit more to be added than what's confirmed on there website.

Aircraft Confirmed:

The Red Arrows
The Typhoon
Lancaster Bomber
Tutor
NEW Hawk T2 Role Demo

Considering Southport are running ad's on Granada TV with the airshow being part of the ad I would have thought they could have kept the website up to date.

Lifted off the Southport Air Show facebook page.
Southport Air Show Thank you for your comment. This page is managed on a daily basis and we have a high response rate, however there are times that comments can be missed or it is not possible to reply straight away. The Vulcan has not yet been confirmed, we are awaiting feedback from them and our flying director. As soon as we have news we update this page, as well as southportairshow.com.

So looks like they are trying to get the Vulcan.

Oh and it wasn't me asking.

Update about the Vulcan
The Vulcan Update
We are continuing to work closely with our Flying Director to enable this iconic aircraft to display at our popular show. We would love the Vulcan to display one last time at Southport, but ultimately the decision rests with the Vulcan Team. We will keep you updated and we appreciate your patience and continued support.

So it looks like the VTTS are stalling on Southport, I bet there hoping for a better offer from Duxford.

Is the Hunter that is performing at Southport the one that sadly crashed at the weekend ?
