Am I best listening to Newcastle Airport for the Sunderland Airshow at the Weekend or do they have their own special frequency in the area?

I think Sunderland use their own special frequencies, you will certainly hear comms over the Newcastle frequency as they depart and land, looking round on the internet it seems the participants use 121.175. Flying starts at 12:00 on Saturday and Sunday and finishes at 17:00, on the Friday evening it starts at 18:00 for anyone interested. Still no word on what's taking part in the beach assault which is unusual.

Friday has BBMF, Typhoon, Red Arrows, Tutor, Hawk and Twister duo.
Starts approx. 18:00 and ends with a firework display at approx. 21:40.

My first time at this show yesterday...good day's entertainment all in all. It did seem a long way away however, apart from the Cooper fella who was extraordinary.

I wondered why it was all so far away at Sunderland (compared to somewhere like Bournemouth for example)? Is this something to do with the geography of the bay and it being curved as opposed to straight coastline?

The geography certainly has something to do with it and the fact that the centre of the display line is in an odd place (the big white lighthouse) doesn't help.
