That's actually quite surprising.

I'm sure that will see plenty not going this year now as they're one of if not the main draw for the general public.

Must be a real cut back in terms of budget for them not to be attending.

Its because they're off on tour after Scampton mate, not budget related.

This scenario has happened once before, quite a while ago, back in the days of multiple Harriers and the beach assault. Different times now of course, but it does free display budget up for other stuff. Sea Vixen would work for me

Could the B-17 be booked as a nod to the 70th anniversary of the USAF? If so would it be likely we would see a couple of mustangs in formation with it?

Wouldn't at all surprise me if the Bronco/Mig 15/Vampire Pair are announced at some point too.

Well at it's height Burtonwood Airbase was the largest USAF base in Europe. Also thinking out loud will Sally B transit down the M62 to flyover the old main runway. So glad I had already decided to give Scampton a miss.

Mig-15 and Vampire pair added for both days, looking like an awesome show this year. Can we do without the Reds more often please.

Don't expect to see it flying before late 2018 / early 2019. I am reliably informed it's slow but steady progress.

Am I overthinking this, or is it looking a bit "thin" this year..three days or not?

At the moment it does look a bit thin display wise, but looking at other shows which Tsa organise chances are, they'll *hopefully release more display acts closer to the time.

*as with last year & the year before, most isn't added till late August/early September.

Thanks for that; I don't want to sound like a naysayer or doommonger, just thought it wasn't very substantial compared to when i last went!

Strange. The Bray Airshow is on this weekend in Ireland and they have Swedish Historical Flight Viggen and Spanish F18 displaying.
For a small airshow that is amazing so why does Southport hardly ever have any foreign displays especially as Reds are not displaying this year.
Maybe its costs but perhaps the organisers need to spread their wings.
