Providing the weather plays ball Yep.

Likewise, assuming decent weather and being able to get a flyer and get there in time, I'd like to give it a go. The latter is a challenge if you aren't very local, on a Friday night, in term time.

I'm the same, weather looks a bit dodgy early evening. Going to see how it looks mid afternoon tomorrow. At least Saturday and Sunday look OK weather wise.

Does anyone know what's basing from where? Typhoon pair are going into Liverpool airport tomorrow - no-one confirmed a time yet.

BBMF? Are we expecting just a Spitfire still or the full trio? Sometimes they use LJLA too...

Don't the BBMF usually use Blackpool as there base for the Southport show. I was going to look on a site for Liverpool tomorrow but it seems to of disappeared.

Edit as far as I know it's the Lancaster and at least a Spitfire.

Thanks guys, very helpful as always.

Will keep a watch on here & the other forums tomorrow. Pity there's no military choppers there this year as fancied trying to find a good spot at Woodvale on Saturday for some closeup shots.

Certainly seems that the participants are scattered around a fair bit...

Vampires landed this morning at Blackpool. Strikemaster just went over my house. BBMF expected at blackpool airport at 7pm.

EDIT. Bronco. Lancaster, BBMF Spitfire, The Blades and the Firefly display team are also now overnighting at Blackpool. The Buchon and other Spitfire meant to be here, but I've not seen them.

Buchon, MH434 and PT's Mustang all at Blackpool, tucked up in Hangar 3.

It was very good, the evening display. Eurofighter Typhoon looked amazing being thrown around, with the afterburners glowing in the fading light.
Also the opener with the BBMF Lancaster and Spitfire XIX PS915, was really moving. PS915 looked beautiful gleaming in the evening light, and an scorcher of an display.
According to Facebook, the Hurricane won't be displaying with the other two, this weekend unfortunately.

Spitfire IX MH434 and the Hispano Buchon are hangared at Blackpool Airport, I have seen pictures of them online on Facebook. I am
really looking forwards to this weekends displays

There was a modest crowd Mooshie, but most seemed to stay up on the prom. There weren't many on the beach and the crowd line had plenty of room.

The show was very well done. Slick, one item into another, loads of fireworks and all set to music rather than conventional commentary. Above all the light was stunning - a perfect sunset. Really tricky to photograph - but lovely to watch!

The beach doesn't seem too soggy, not as much standing water as there has been in some recent years.

Good day out, PT pick of the bunch for me but to be fair i enjoyed everything today. Seemed a really good, laid back atmosphere. Not a massive crowd either through, think this might have helped a lot. Please don't get the Reds next year ;-)

Fantastic day ! Highlights for me were the BBMF, Mustang, Buchon and Spitfire Dogfight. Sally B and the Typhoon. The display by the Spitfire XIX PS915, of the BBMF was the best I have seen from a BBMF Spitfire for ages ! Teichmans P51 Mustang display was superb too, such beauty and precision. Sally B was as graceful as ever, and The Typhoon being chucked around, with afterburners aplenty, was an excellent way to finish the day. It was an fantastic Airshow, I thoroughly enjoyed it ! And blessed with decent weather )) Can't wait for tomorrow !

Had a very enjoyable day today, I hadn't planned on going today but I'm glad I did. I think the Reds not being there did affect the crowd as I did see spaces on the crowd line and for Joe Public that's a big miss, but nothing Southport could do about it, and in my opinion very bad form from the Reds as this is recognised by most as the last major show of the season in the UK (I know we have Duxford next week but that's usually before Southport).
The show itself I was happy with although it seemed to be shorter in length than usual, the Bronco going U/S was a big disappointment for me, I think I must be a jink for them as it always seems to go U/S or be a no show when I attend a show it's at  .
Highlights for me Sally B I thought was excellent today and it seemed better than what you get at Duxford, perhaps it was a different backdrop that made it. Buchon and Spitfire pair very good and nice to see outside of Duxford. Peter T in the P51 was his usual polished act. BBMF Lancaster, well that only has to turn up to get me excited. I know everything else displayed well but nothing that was really memorable for me.
As said a very enjoyable day, I didn't get home late for a change, sat down with a nice cuppa for 6.30pm. Oh and it was bloody cold stood on the crowd line. Some photos to come later in the photos thread.

Yes it was shorter due to abscence of Reds who chose to display in Athens before commencing a 5 week tour of the Middle East.

Absolutely awesome airshow my first Southport I will be back next year very cool that Southport 2018 will be held in July less time to wait! Well organized as well I like how little delay there was between each display.

Could not believe how lucky we all were with the weather just a fantastic day and the Mustang :worship:

Hi all, glad that many of you enjoyed the show. With Friday night being a first for us we were extremely pleased with how it went.

In order for us to improve in the future please do let us have further feedback and what you want to see in 2018! With it being in July the evening show will be more challenging but it will go ahead.

Planning for next year has already begun and requests for displays have been and are being made.
