Sounds good, but they'll be hard pressed to beat the jolly green giant landing on the lawns last year :P.....(unless the navy bring a super Frelon  )

Seeing as its a military website you can safely rule out civil junk.

DHFS AW139, anything from Sweden, Spain, Italy or even US Army in Germany - bit bored of SHAPE UH-60s at every event...

I think the event ususally happens when most places in the UK are on leave but I'd really like to see the retro scheme Sea King on the beach lawns!

Thinking back to 2005 when we had Dutch Apaches/Cougar, Italian Mangusta, Norwegian and German Sea Kings, I'd love some of that again. :)

Top of my list, though, would have to be sun and blue skies for the departures on the Sunday!

RAF : Chinook, Merlin

A liltte bird told me they won't land a Merlin there because the downdraft it too strong and will blow the fencing away, as what the CH-53GS nearly did last year. Oh the memories

Considering we've had Chinooks and Stallions on the lawn in the past with little problem I think the little bird is probably fluting out of its ar$e.

Not a hells chance  Crystal Ball would be the best approach.

The organiser(s) don't reveal whats likely to attend to the ATC & Marshaller teams until the day before, so the chances that details will be published anywhere is unlikely.

Just read today's Bristol Evening Post. Small article about Helidays stating that the CH53 will be back :yahoo: :yahoo: ...also mentions Sea King, Puma, Lynx, A109 and the possibility of an AW139 :)

There have been a small air display in the past but this year its all static aircraft both military and civilian.

In the past the military arrivals happen on the Friday along with some civilian aircraft that are staying for the weekend. Day visitors arrive and depart on all three days and the military aircraft depart on the Sunday afternoon to vacate the beach lawns. Landing is usually from the south.
For those who have not been to Helidays before the event happens on the beach lawns at Weston. The beach lawns become a licenced temporary heliport for the weekend with ATC coverage.

All the proceeds from the event go to charity. There are also stalls, rides for the younger children and fun for all the family.

I'm not one of the organisers but for the third year I will be there helping out. Its a good fun weekend.

The CH53 put on a little display last year while surveying the landing site :D....it proceeded to blow down all the barriers around it :D

A general idea of the event.....

The day has nearly dawned for Helidays 2009.

I shall be off down there later with the caravan on the back.

If anyone is there come and say hello, hoping to be working stewarding the crowdline.
