Not being an avid watcher, although the wife is and she said the Dr needs to be a man as he is always being rescued by a strong female. She's currently working on the series anyway and will be glad not to be staring at Peter Capaldi's face every day on her monitor. As for the new Dr, I couldn't possibly say........... :ninja:

A fine choice I think, she's a super actor and now you think about her in the role she'll be a great Doctor too I suspect.

And Dan, yeah you're right of course, it's only ever been kids who have watched it, it's never really had a wider following has it... :surrender:

You'd think they just announced George Bacon as the 13th

Liked the Christopher Eccleston series watched the David Tennant ones on and off if there was nothing on it would be background noise, the second Matt Smith opened his mouth I stopped watching it.

One would hope he'd fly the TARDIS with rather more flair than he managed in the Beaver at Old Warden this month...

I see the cynics are speculating that the only reason Whittaker got the part is because the bloke who directed Broadchurch is the new director of Dr Who.

And missed the fact that Broadchurch starred an ex-Doctor Who?

It's going to be pretty much a complete change for the whole series. Not just a new Dr, or Director, but new writers, new music composer and new visual effects company

And they probably won't be able to film various episodes ( the Christmas specials in particular ) at a certain Newport steelworks, either.
Presumably they'll still be filming in & around Cardiff, though ( Cardiff Castle last month )
