Berbatov to Manchester

Re: Berbatov to Manchester

1844: There is some chat now that Manchester City have made a last-gasp bid for Real Madrid's Robinho. So that's Robinho, Berbatov, Villa and Gomez. And Mark Hughes still had time for a round of golf. I say.

That's quite a quartet they're lining up  Funny thing is, it seems they could afford all four of them- now that would be something

Can't see berba going to City though- he seems intent on playing for United in addition to wanting Champions League football, something City can't offer him despite their new found millions.

I just hope we do sign him, as we're now a bit short of attackers with 'Sicknote' Saha signing for Everton (how did he ever pass the medical?) and Campbell maybe off to Hull. BBC is full of rumours of Huntelaar being spotted in Manchester airport, though wouldn't like to bet on which club he'll end up with

Spurs now saying that (Not from)Manchester Utd do NOT have permission to talk to Berbatov.
So this could run and run.

Meanwhile, over in Manchester, the oil keeps pumping and the money keeps flowing.

According to Sky Sports News, Berbatov is having a medical at United. Ferguson picked him up from Manchester airport earlier. However, it begs the question, how is he allowed to undergo a medical if a fee has not been agreed? Surely that's illegal? Tapped up!

My prediction, Berbatov to be a United player by midnight and they'll pay less than £30m for him

If thats true, its a tad hypocritical after all the fuss they made about Real Madrid tapping up Ronaldo! They've actually taken it further by conducting a medical.

Being a Spurs fan i loved the talk of him going to City, oh the irony as long as we make a nice profit so we can buy another injury prone player to add to our long and illustrious list of injury plagued players.

Berbatov almost certainly to United, Sky Sports News have footage of him at Old Trafford talking to David Gill.

And a bigger shock, Robinho to Man City - maybe!

Madrid president has been on TV apparently, confirming sale of Robinho! Hasn't said who too though, although most people's money is on City. It's insane! Surely Berba to United then, surely they couldn't pull it off and sign both ?

From the BBC website...

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon says the club have agreed to sell Robinho to Manchester City.

Chelsea have been chasing the Brazilian forward's signature but City are set to capture him for a British record fee believed to be £32.5m.

"We have agreed to sell the player for human reasons, and for footballing reasons and for an important quantity of money," Calderon told Spanish TV.

"After consulting with the technical staff we have decided it was the best."

More to follow.

I reckon they have one over on their city rivals too. Robinho is a better player than Berbatov!

That is assuming United got Berbatov, of course...

Just a thought though, is he really 4 times better than Deco, who only cost Chelsea £8m?

From the BBC site:

Newcastle have completed the signing of Spain Under-21 striker Xisco, 22, on a five-year deal. Fashionably late, I think you call it nowadays.

No. But what would a 24 year old with the skill of Deco cost?

They've just confirmed Berbatov is United player for £30.75m, with Fraser Campbell going the other way on a season long loan.

Well thats just gone and made my day...Hicks and Gillett out! They aren't acting in the best interests of the club as they can't pull off a transfer that would leave a Liverpool fan thinking they stand a chance of the title this season. The new stadium drama is a shambles and they don't trust the manager's judgement in players. Man City have shown what Arabic investors can do, I would much have the DIC/ any of the sheikhs several consortiums in charge than these 2 self destructive owners.
Riera isn't the big name that many would like to have seen come in, although I have faith he has improved since his city spell.

I wouldnt blame the owners that much, they are being guided by a bloke who only wants to buy Spaniards...I wonder why??

Its a shame Tottenham agreed to let him go, its another victory for player power. Before long the players will be buying and selling places at clubs not the other way round.

It was a fun night but I cant help but think that at the bottom of all this is the fact that the academies (the breading ground of young players from England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland) will whither and die.
