Eric Sykes has died aged 89 - clicky. One of the last great comedians from the golden age of comedy.

That is really sad. Not only one of the great post-war comedians but surely one of the greastest and most prolific writers, who wrote for just about every comic one can think of for the last 60 years. He and Spike shared writing honours under the watchful eye of Norma Farnes for 50 yerars. I strongly recommend his book "If I don't Write It Nobody Else Will".

Very sad news, he was always a great comic, equally funny with both visual and verbal gags, a sad loss!

Sad news indeed,he certainly made me howl with laughter, especially in one episode of "Sykes" when he's sneaking back into the house through the bathroom window and gets his shoe/foot in the toilet,,that cracked me up!! R.I.P Eric, thanks for the laughter!

A comedy genius who will be much missed. "Alternative" comedians such as Frankie Boyle weren't fit to lick Eric's boots.

Definitely agree. I'm only 30 but I bought the Sykes tv series box set DVD about 8 years ago, much prefer his style of comedy to today's so-called 'comedians'. The Plank is such a classic film, I love the episode of Sykes with Peter Sellers' guest appearance in too!
